My Wife loves it

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Picked this up for my wife to replace her old pack (got chewed up by marmots) and she was not happy because she loved that old pack. It took some time but this pack won her over. way more comfortable than her old pack because of the pivoting hip belt and ergo active straps. It did squeak pretty bad when loaded down, but after time that went away. She has used this for backpacking, ice climbing, rock climbing, you name it. It has been a great pack.

Here I'm using this pack on a 2 day backpacking trip to summit some Wasatch Peaks. I really liked the way the weight is distributed as well as the pivoting hip belt. (It did squeak a little bit though, so I had to play around and make micro adjustments to achieve silence!) The compression straps were handy for cinching down the pack for use during my day hike.

Is this pack waterproof?

Is this pack waterproof?

Most packs will not actually feature waterproof material.

Consider placing your valuables in a dry bag. Also most companies will make pack covers that will fit atop the pack to keep your gear dry, these range from 15-30$. Try searching for 'pack cover' in the search bar, and sort by brand. When in doubt, don't hesitate to chat or call in and a gearhead would love to help out.

"Women’s-specific shoulder straps and removable, interchangeable hipbelt, both with soft, breathable 3D mesh"

I'm more familiar with Osprey packs, and I know they will do it for you, but I suggest contacting black diamond at (801) 278-5533 or visiting one of their retailers to see what they can do for you. I hope this helps!

From Black Diamond's website, it appears that only the Enduro and Access models offer interchangeable hip belts, which is something you would have to do with Black Diamond, since we don't have spare hipbelts lying around, unfortunately.

Both Osprey and Arc'teryx also offer interchangeable hipbelts.
