    The simplest and best.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Ice screw points and - more importantly - threads need to be protected. Sure, your gear needs to be protected from them too. But if they get dings or burrs they won't go in as easily or have the same surface area for holding an anchor or a fall.

I tried other solutions like chisel/tool rolls made of various materials, some cheap, some not, but the same three problems always persisted:

    1. The hangers made keeping it compact difficult/impossible.
    2. They didn't do well with getting/staying wet.
    3. Having different sized screws made things awkward when rolling/folding.

The Screwup stores any size screws, has room for the hangers, and is synthetic so it doesn't absorb moisture and dries fast. As long as you cinch the strap rightly your screws never slip out.

The threads and points are always protected. I don't even use the end caps they came with anymore. After years and abuse my Screwups have remained bomber and like new.

I occasionally wish I could make it more compact when all I'm using that day are stubbies, but that's a small price to pay.

Like the title says, of everything I've tried, this is the simplest and best solution.

    OK, but...

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

It mostly works as described to keep the screw points contained, but there isn't much to keep the screws in place. Once in the roll-up and secured the shorter screws can slide out. That's not likely to happen in a pack, but a more secure strap would be helpful. I'm going to keep using it, but I wouldn't buy it again.

What are Tools Without a Toolbox?

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Ice Screwup is way better than having to fuss with the rubber caps that come stock. I just wish it would hold more screws.

    Pretty self explanatory...

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I like these, because they prevent my screws for banging against other hard metal (and ruining the points), and they keep my puffy from exploding into a giant mess in my bag. BD used to have something like this for 10 screws... I wish they had that still.

Protects your screws, and your stuff

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Does exactly what it is supposed to. Most importantly, it keeps each screw separate so the threads are protected too (after all, that's what holds you!). Long enough that long screws don't stick out, so I don't even use the end caps anymore. When the strap is tightened they will not slip out, even when upside down. This thing is simple, and bomber. Best solution I've seen. Sure I wish it held more, but they're cheap enough to buy two.
