    Year-round versatility for mountain men.

The Black Diamond Men's Hot Forge Hybrid Hooded Jacket offers innovative insulation for versatile protection whether you're ski touring in winter or alpine climbing in summer. PrimaLoft Gold Down Blend insulation places protective synthetic in exposed areas for better warmth in wet weather, and down gives the rest of the jacket a supreme warmth-to-weight ratio and compact packability. In fact, the Hot Forge Hybrid is so packable that you can stuff it in an internal pocket that can clip inside your pack or on your harness. Black Diamond wrapped Pertex Quantum around the innovative insulation for an optimum strength-to-weight ratio, windproof protection, and water-resistance.

i decided to own this jacket just as a mid-layer. but once i got it, i just can't take it off. wearing it everywhere~ very light very comfy repels water and stay dry and warm even in very humid circumstances.

    a surprising jacket~

    Stellar jacket!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I absolutely love this jacket, it's perfect for a middle layer while skiing or something to throw on for those cold mornings. Fits true, I'm 6'1" and have a large. The Deep Torch is an awesome Crimson color. No complaints here!

    Place of Use:
    - Alta and Snowbird Ski areas, Little Cottonwood Canyon Utah
    - Salt Lake City, Utah (as an everyday jacket)

    Conditions and Temp:
    - 8 degrees Fahrenheit – 20 degrees Fahrenheit (Used as a mid-layer along with Patagonia Capilene midweight baselayer and Arc’teryx Stingray Shell)
    - 20 degrees Fahrenheit – 40 degrees Fahrenheit (Used as a stand-alone piece to wear around town or on non-strenuous hikes)
    - Used as an outer piece and mid-layer around town in light rain and light to heavy snow.

    Primary Use:
    - The Hot Forge hoody is a very versatile insulated piece. The combination of DWR (water repellant down) down insulation and Primaloft gold gives the jacket incredible warmth while still remaining functional and warm when wet. I have worn this jacket as an outer layer hiking in mild rain and heavy snow conditions and it performed extremely well. I have also used this jacket as a mid-layer skiing in frigid temps. The Jacket does have a DWR (water repellent) layer on the outside to resist rain but I would not recommend wearing this piece when the rain is pouring outside (switch to a Gor-Tex outer layer or use in conjunction with Gor-Tex). This jacket really comes into its element as a mid-layer especially for climbers and skiers.

    Functionality:
The jacket has multiple points of adjustment including:
    - The adjustable draw cord works really well to seal out the weather and the jacket can pack tightly into the inner chest pocket.
    - Stretch gusseted cuffs are a nice addition and seal out the cold in the wrist area.

    Fit:
    - Jacket fits true to size. However, I am a bigger guy in the butt and hips from playing ice hockey growing up and the jacket fits tight in those areas. I am 6’0 220 and went with a large.

    Pretty Great

I use this jacket everyday and have also been putting it to the test on mountain rescue missions. This jacket is fairly light and compacts down very well for a synthetic/down hybrid jacket. I love that I can get this jacket damp or even a little wet and it still keeps me warm. The only complaints I have is that pieces of down are coming out of the stitching here and there. Not at any alarming rate, but something to take note on. The only other thing is that it would be fantastic if the jacket came with a Brest pocket.
