My hands tend to get cold quickly and this is the best all around hand protection I Have ever used. You will first notice the thick layer of fur like nylon on the top of the hand and then you can feel Primaloft. While boot packing through the waist deep snow they did not get wet so I was confident in the Gore-Tex but then yesterday I did a full submersion in the creek and my hands were warm until I got back to my car an hour later. That is impressive to say the least. This is the glove to have, the lobster variant gives you the warmth of the mitten and the use of your pointer finger when you need it. It does compromise the dexterity but its not that bad for your most menial tasks such as zipper pulling and tearing open shot blocks. As you can see the leather frozen in the picture.

I found these in a local store in December, and planned on picking them up in January. But they were sold out - as was just about every other retailer online. Except backcountry - they had a few left. I ordered the large, but should have heeded a few of the reviews I read that stated they ran a little small. The exchange process with backcountry was incredibly easy, by the way.

These are the warmest mitts I've ever owned. I bought them for hiking in some extreme situations, and they performed perfectly. So well, that I tried them riding my motorcycle in sub-20F (I know, not much crash protection, but at that temperature it's the least of my worries), and again, perfect, even at 70+ MPH, where my winter motorcycle gloves can never keep my fingers warm. I can only hope they hold up to abuse and last, cause I love 'em.
