Lowball project or highball sketch fest—the Black Diamond Gorilla Chalk Bag comes along every time you boulder.
- Item #BLD1019
- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Too small to be a true boulder bucket but too big to haul up a route. This chalk bag doesn't close all the way and spews chalk everywhere. This is only item i have ever had by BD that i have been completely disappointed with. Wouldn't recommend purchasing one.
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
Thought this was bigger from the picture. Too stiff. Returned item.
A bit small for a chalk BUCKET
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I have used many chalk buckets and this one is by far the smallest. It isnt to much bigger than a chalk bag. It looks cool but like others have said it doesnt close well and is too small for my bouldery taste.
Perfect size but poor closure
The drawstring just doesn't close 100%. Every time you drop it, touch it or move it, a mushroom cloud of chalk poofs out of the top. Size is perfect as a ground bag for 1-5 at the gym.
Decent chalk pot, but the closure system needs some help. It's easy to spot them in the gym, just look for the giant chalk explosion on the floor where someone accidentally stepped on one.
Doesn't close completely
Nice idea, but, no matter how hard you try, the top will never close completely. Chalk gets everywhere every time you try to pack it. Fix the closure, and it would be a nice in-between size bag, as described.
Great size- big and holds a ton of chalk, but not as domineering as some over-sized chalk bags you see kickin' it around. Only complaint is I'd improve the closure. There is always a small gab when cinched and a volcano like reaction tends to occur whenever it comes near ironed shirts or anywhere near my girl friends pristine car. Chalk everywhere, ha!

Nice and big!
This bag is perfect for group bouldering use. The large volume and big opening at the top make it perfect to sit next to the problem as the community chalk. You can easily fit both hands in at once. The top cinches off so when kicked around, who don't lose chalk. The bag is durable and will come with me on all bouldering trips from now on.
