won't disappoint

For the price you really can't ask for more, an Energizer or Coast head lamp from the hardware store will run you just about as much and won't perform half so well. The dimming and strobe features are an awesome bonus. My wife is a paramedic and for Christmas this past year I got her a Black Diamond Half Dome Helmet for high angle rescue. I purchased the Black Diamond Gizmo headlamp solely for the reason that it was inexpensive and had the same color scheme as the helmet. I still love my Princeton Tecs and would trade them in for nothing, but this is a truly awesome little headlamp. Remarkably energy efficient LEDs as well which is awesome. The headlamp runs on a 2 AAA battery platform, and after a year of light to moderate use the batteries have yet to be changed. It hasn't just sat in a gear locker either, it's great on the trail, or on a rock face, heck I even used it taking down Christmas lights one night after getting home from work. I endorse it 100%

One for every occasion

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I bought three of these headlamps - one for the car, one for my purse, and one for my daypack. A great price for a "utility" headlamp. I used it consistently for Thursday night after-work hikes last spring before it started getting light out, and it worked great!

I bought this BD headlamp because it was the cheapest BD lamp. It does not have a red night-vision light. The intensity of the lamp was okay, but noticeably weaker than its more expensive cousins.

It did its headlamping job perfectly and I was totally satisfied.... until I had to change the battery. The lamp basically fell apart when I tried to change them, and after getting everything back together it never turned on again. Smarter people than me gave a go at fixing it and failed.

I have since upgraded to the BD Revolt headlamp and I am very happy in my now well-lit environment.

Hi Suzie,

I'm sorry to hear this. Mine's been great, for many years now, so my guess is that yours was a dud. What a drag!

I'm glad you've been happy with their Revolt headlamp. It is covered for 3 three years, so let us know if you ever have an issue again.
