Description

Your haul bag weighs enough without adding unnecessary friction.

You finished your A4 pitch. Now comes time to haul. Make your dreaded job easier by reducing friction in your system with the Black Diamond Pulley. This self-lubricating pulley reduces the effort needed to get the pig bag to your free-hanging anchor.

  • Note: This is not a self-locking pulley

The BD Pulley is great

These Pulley is super light and super resistant just as big as a carabiner, it will do the job and will help you rise heavy material or a person in case of a rescue.

What is the largest diameter rope this will work for?

I believe it will fit up to a 10.5mm without a problem. A 10.8mm will be a little snug but it would still work.

Great product

Great light pulley, doesn't do the best job minding prussics. Must have for crevasse rescue though.

What do you mean exactly by prusik minding. I've just started reading the books and watching the videos on zsystems etc but haven't put any of it to practice. How do other pulleys handle prusiks better than this?

Responded on

Justin,
The Black Diamond Pulley is not designed to mind a prusik, you can see this from the shape (there are no wide side walls). Take a look at the Petzl Pulley for an example: http://www.backcountry.com/petzl-mini-prusik-minding-pulley.

A prusik minding pulley prevents a friction-hitch such as a prusik from sliding up into the pulley and jamming the system. Alternatively, you can also use a tubular belay device placed in front of the pulley to act as a barrier from the friction-hitch sliding into the pulley. BD Pulley

A great little pulley. I wouldnt want to use it to haul the pig. I'll haul small packs with this or when guiding and a client needs a little help, this is a great peice of gear for the 3-1. Much better than just using a oval biner. Very light, worth the space and weight it will add to your harness.
