How well does this harness perform in the gym? It's mainly what I'll be doing with it and I'm not sure whether this one gives a comfortable fit. Any advice or thoughts?

Since you Wont be hanging for long amounts of time any harness will do just fine. Black Diamond is a very good choice for the price as well.

I have a 34" waist but my legs are only 21", are the legs loops going to be too lose if I get a size large?
I will be using this on both a Ropes Course and on an artificial climbing/rapelling tower - is this going to be a good choice?
I need to be able to clip in on both verse having to tie in while onthe towel.

You should be good. You can always exchange it if not. It sounds like you need either a medium or large, but I would go for a large. This harness is one of the best out there, it'll work great for the tasks you described.

Had the older model of this harness for about 4 years now, and I have no complaints! The speed buckles are probably my favorite...doubling back with gloves on is not very easy. Super comfortable and light...really nothing else to say. Great buy!

I'm wearing a small Momentum harness, and my legs are on the small end of this size. I notice the leg loops of small Focus is from 19-21, while momentum ranges from 17-21. Will Focus be too large for me? Thank you for your time.

Just got this, so I can't really post a review just yet.
The gear loops on mine are not as pictured here on backcountry. They're the standard gear loops, i.e. 4 individual loops, not 2 divided loops. Just wanted to give people a heads up. I'm definitely still happy with it though!

Looking for a after work/school cragging/trad harness.....prefer lightweight stuff...how would this work on 1-2-3 pitch routes? what about trad? (gear loops arent a problem because i use a rack sling...) any other suggestions?

I just got this harness today, the gear loops are the standard BD gear loops (think momentum harness), not the weird configuration in the picture. (which probably wouldn't be too bad anyways). I bought it for trad and sport, hung in it from my pull up bar for several minutes and it felt great. Granted, I've only owned it for a few hours, but I love it already.
Super light, very comfy, nice and minimalist (no straps flapping around getting in the way).

Anyone know how these leg loops fit compared to, say, the previous model BD Chaos harness? And how comfortable they are to hang in on trad days vs the Chaos?
How rigid is that rear gear loop? Would it sag much after clipping gear to it? It looks like its not the same construction as the regular gear loops on the side.

Sorry I've never climbed in the chaos, but this is pretty comfy to hang in, not sure how they compare.
About the gear loop in the back though, it's much thinner and not rigid, but it's wide and not very tall, so it doesn't sag too much.

I ended up buying this harness and here's what I found:
- The leg loops fit much tighter than on the older model (2009) orange-and-green Black Diamond Chaos, but this is accurately reflected in the size chart numbers on the Black Diamond website.
- Also on the BD website, there is an updated picture of the Focus with 4 normal gear loops; NOT the mondo gear loops pictured here on backcountry. The Focus harness I got has the normal gear loops. These gear loops are the same as on the new Flight/Siren and Momentum/Primrose harnesses. They are slightly different from the gear loops on the new Chaos and Ozone/Aura harnesses (because they don't have the little grey retention piece where the gear loop goes into the waist belt).
- The rear 5th gear loop is not rigid and does not have a plastic sheath like the other 4 gear loops. It is fairly taut however, so it doesn't sag much when loaded with gear. I can imagine it getting frayed with some use.
- The widths of both the waist belt and the leg loops are narrow a little narrower than on the Momentum and much narrower than on my 2009 Chaos. The leg loops on the Focus are noticeably less comfortable to hang in.
I will keep this harness because it is the only 5-gear-loop harness that Black Diamond makes so far, and I like BD's rigid, straight gear loops. I hesitate to recommend it though someone who wants a rear gear loop probably wants the harness for trad climbing, and this is a less-comfortable option. I wish they made a Kinetic-Core Construction harness with mondo gear loops, a rear gear loop, the narrow belay loop, and conical-shaped trak-fit legs.
Awsome
