Didn't work for me.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had this pack about 2 years now and have taken many trips and also traveled internationally (and domestically) with it. It came highly recommended by a friend, but I've ultimately decided I'm going to get rid of it. As a petite female I've found that it really didn't fit me well and I'm certain there are more comfortable options out there.

* Durable, haven't had any issues with construction or flaws.

* Roomy - taken this on 3-4 day trips with no space issues.

* Large exterior pocket is great for stashing items like ski skins or a rain jacket that you may need to grab on the fly.

* Though LARGE, this pack compresses down really effectively. I've used it on multiple multi-day yurt trips to haul all my gear in, and then cinched it down to use it as a day pack while skiing, and it works great. It is very versatile in this regard.

* At 5'3" and 120 lbs this pack felt too big for me. No matter how I tweaked I could never get the shoulder straps to rest properly and they left marks on my collar bones and left a great deal of soreness in that area. The shoulder straps themselves felt too narrow, and I want to say they lacked support.

* Hip belt squeaks at times - which gets ANNNOYYYYING.

* There is a ton of webbing/compression straps on the exterior of this pack, it feels messy and they are always getting tangled. I'd hope BD could come up with a cleaner system as this regularly bothered me.

* In the future I am going to get a pack with multiple access points. It gets really frustrating to try and locate items in the bottom of the pack and being forced to unload the entire thing.

I'm so over this pack - it may work for less petite females, but the combination of things that annoyed me and the ill fit means I just purchased an Arc'teryx Altra 62 pack and cannot wait to try it out!

Bottom Line: This is adequate for the job as I've taken it on multiple trips without incident, but I think I can absolutely find a more suitable pack for my needs.
