When it’s time to leave the resort behind and hit the backcountry in search of epic lines, outfit your Factor boots with the Black Diamond Factor AT Sole Block. This interchangeable sole gives the Factor Dynafit compatibility and a boot-sole grip for rocky traverses and quad-burning approach hikes. Now you can use your favorite boots both in AND out of the resort.

Bottom Line: Add a new dimension to you Factor boots.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

Just added these to my Factors and had a shop adjust the Barons

Just added these to my Factors and had a shop adjust the Barons accordingly (I've been on the alpine soles for the last 2 years and wanted to use the Factors with my Dynafits as well) Felt great on the skin up but then felt too far back/too upright skiing down. Was this due to the change in binding height on the toe of my Barons (felt like I was back on my heels a little)? Anyone one else have a similar feel? Solution?

I seem to recall something about the Barons having no ramp angle, as opposed to Dynafit which has a few degrees of ramp angle. Could this be the issue?

BD AT Sole Blocks

I finally found a pair of these in large. Seems to me BD underestimated the desire people had for these awesome upgrades to their AT boot(duh). Got a pair so that I can switch back and forth between the AT and Alpine toe plate. I found that the AT heel piece works in my alpine bindings just as well and is way more durable than the Alpine blocks. The soles seem to have great grip and interface well with my Barons, my Dynafits as well as Fritchis and Naxos.
The plastic has seemed to hold up fairly well and resists dimpling from my bindings heel pieces.

All in all a nice upgrade to a great boot although tough to track down a size large.

Aside from forward pressure, are there any other adjustments

Aside from forward pressure, are there any other adjustments I need to make on my binding if I use the AT sole block? I have Marker Duke bindings and I like the fact that I can easily swap between my Factors (with regular soles) and race boots with no fiddling around with the bindings since the bsl's between the 2 boots are just about the same.

When using these AT Lug sole instead of an Alpine DIN sole block, you will need to also adjust the bindings platform height. This can easily be done using the adjustment screw located on the Dukes toe piece.

Anything like this for the Garmont Adrenalin? I'd love to

Anything like this for the Garmont Adrenalin? I'd love to keep my G Adrenalin's and run a dynafit binding until I've got the cash reserves to get a whole new set of boots. The Adrenalin's have removable/replaceable soles with screws, so I wonder if something like this would work.

Good Sole that smells like my barn.

Really, it smells like a hay barn. Still does after use! I'd say they are much more durable than the Alpine blocks. That 'rubber' just wears right off. I have contacted them about making a vibram sole. I don't have a clue why they didn't do that...

It's Fritschi for future reference, and yes.Compatible with AT bindings that meet DIN ISO 13992, any BD AT boot and also Dynafit. Attaches with 2 exterior 4mm screws for the toe and 2 interior phillips screws for the heel.

AT sole went on quickly and easily. Great for walking around Chamonix! Had to set the forward pressure on my Dukes a couple clicks tighter than with the Din sole to prevent forward release for some odd reason, but likely my poor initial adjustment.
Thumbs up, and am looking forward to getting some dynafit binders for lighter touring.
