The Black Diamond Dynex Sewn Runners are the best sewn runners you can buy. First of all, the fiber is ten times stronger than steel by weight. It is also extremely lightweight, durable, has low water absorption and high cut resistance. Secondly, and most importantly, in order to make these runners the best, they must undergo strict batch testing under Black Diamond's ISO standards. Weight is .15oz.

Seems to take abuse better than the Dyneema Mammut runners. I trust these looping horns or threading holes not your old school beer knot tied webbing but just as strong and less bulky and cheaper than the crazy stuff.

Smaller, lighter ... better

In climbing, any time you can get away with making something smaller, do it. Such is the case with the new 12mm slings from BD. The size is noticeably different, and of course makes slinging a bunch of them over your shoulder, or racking several of them made into quickdraws much, much more manageable. Face it, you need to retire your old slings. Get some of these instead.

Sewn runners-better than tying knots

By:
April 13, 2003

I was introduced to climbing by old school Welchmen who cragged with rocks in their pockets and hemp slings around their necks. After some time passed, I was shown the beauty of tubular webbing, waterknots and nuts, and when that time had passed I finally threw down for some sewn runners. The climbing community, myself included, has ventured far from what could be back in the day, but owning sewn runners is better than tying knots.

Hey, any time you can shave a few ounces, it helps when you are working multi-pitches. These runners are super light.

Lighter is better

What can I say, lighter is always better. I have a few nylon runners, and they have now been replaced with dynex.
