The Distance Z Trekking Pole is Black Diamond's most affordable collapsible offering, but that doesn't mean it's lacking in quality or design. Although it's made of durable aluminum, the Distance Z still weighs well under a pound per pair, and it features the same collapsible design as Black Diamond's other Z-series poles. Just push a button to release the sections and pull the grip like an avalanche probe to reassemble when you're ready to go. The EVA foam grip has an extended mini-grip for easy traversing and side-hilling, and the breathable, padded strap provides plenty of support and comfort on both hot and cold days. Black Diamond also hooked up interchangeable carbide and rubber Tech Tips to help you handle all sorts of terrain, and it included trekking baskets to give you enough support on soft surfaces without catching on trees, roots, and rocks.

Perfect for Arthritic Knees
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I bought these for a specific trip and they were worth every penny. I have severe arthritis in both knees (overactive adolescence). The poles helped with balance on the beach at Assateague and on uneven ground. Using a single works well in more urban settings.

Amazing poles
I used to question whether I should bring poles on certain hikes or runs, but bringing these is a no brainer because they're so light and pack down so small. The lack of adjustability is a non-factor for me (make sure you get the right size), and I love how simple and light they are.

Solid trekking poles
Went on a 3 night backpacking trip to Moose Lake with my brothers-in-law in Sequoia National Forest. We were off trail for about 15 miles, and the poles held up beautifully, I felt confident in putting a lot of weight through them if/when I needed to. Only downside is when my hands were wet from rain or something, locking the poles was difficult, some knurling or a grip patch would eliminate that on the locking sleeve!

The foldability of these worked great on long runs. Very light weight and easy to use. No problem so far with these

Excellent
I took these poles on a month-long backpacking trip to Alaska. They were light enough and worked well while hiking. The z folding technology was useful for tucking them away when they were not needed. On the last day of the trip one of them broke while I was using them as the center support pole on a Diamondback mega light tent. Other than the mishap at the end, I would definitely recommend these poles.

These were the poles I used for 20 weeks of training for my Grand Canyon trek, and trekked with them RIM2RIM2RIM in the canyon. Designed for everyday use for trail runners and day hikers, the lightweight aluminum construction is light weight and the SlideLock technology and increased joint durability provides reliable three-season support for a wide array of mountain adventures.

BUY
There are so many different poles at different price points, but there’s are all around fantastic. I’ve used them in the Eastern Sierras, Zion, Bryce Canyon and the Adirondacks. They are super easy to break down and ultra packable. These poles have just enough rigidity and can take a beating. I am 6’0 and the 120cm are perfect for me.

Solid
This is my first set of sticks and I was a bit hesitant to try sticks without adjustment but after measuring it seemed these would work; 110mm & I am 5’7”. I hiked close to 20 miles w/ maybe 5000’ of elevation over a week vacation in RMNP with a 40lb kid in a Dueter carrier. It snowed the first two days and a couple of hikes were made slightly more interesting as the snow packed and got a little icy. They are super nice and made ascending easier and descending felt more secure especially with the little one on my back. Sticks felt solid and for the price I thought we’re a great addition to my gear.

Great lightweight poles for a reasonable price
I've been using these poles for 3 years after being "shown the light" of trekking poles and I've had nothing but good results backpacking and trail running(with the exception of me slipping and falling on one, breaking it in half, but that's on me). Great traction provided by the carbide tips on gravel, dirt, sand, etc. Most recently they accompanied me trekking the High Sierra Trail with a Mt. Whitney summit and they still look like they could go forever, even after 7 days of granite slabs trying to eat my gear alive. Still hard to justify buying carbon poles when these are already so light. These poles are tight. You should get them.
