Helped me conquer the Inca Trail

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Used these poles to do a 4 day hike of the Inca Trail in Peru to Machu Picchu. Used them going up, down, flat, etc. and never once did they cause me any trouble (unlike other reviews may suggest.) I also traveled carry-on with them in my 55 L pack and they fit inside the pack comfortably (they also come in a handy carrier bag to put outside the pack, which was useful while actually doing the hike.) My ONLY comment is that I am a 5'6 woman (with a disproportionately high leg:body height ratio) and when using these to go downhill, I could have used a slightly longer pole.

Overall: Awesome poles, highly recommend!

Comes undone at joints

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've tried two different pairs, and it's always the same. The poles come undone at the joints (where they fold) whenever caught in terrain or too much pressure is put on them (which isn't a lot). Great poles in theory, not so great in execution.
