The Black Diamond Demon Backpack's 1953cu inch volume holds just enough gear to get you through an alpine jaunt, and the beefy 1260D nylon shell withstands years of them. This simplistic Black Diamond pack includes only a single ice axe loop and shoulder straps—everything you need for a day of spring mountaineering and nothing more.
Bottom Line: Take a stroll in the mountains and over a glacier with the simple, functional, and durable Black Diamond Demon Backpack.
This is an awesome minimalist style design backpack that holds everything I need. The low weight makes it an ideal travel bag. Super durable materials will hold up for years of abuse. I just don't know what to say that hasn't already been said, it is one of my favourite bags for long stays at the crags.
I am looking for a small technical pack that can serve two purposes. 1. Serve as my daily commuter bag to carry my lunch, gym clothes, and books. 2. Serve as a canyoneering backpack and carry my 60m rope, helmet, harness, lunch, and first aid kit. Because it will be going through some tight spaces and dragged over slickrock it needs to be tough and durable. Is this a good option or do you have other suggestions?
The Demon doesn't have a dedicated rope management system. However the side compression straps on the Demon will carry a rope for sure. The BD Speed might be a better option and you can remove the top loader for a smaller commuter style pack. Not sure if this will help!
I love this pack. Great waist straps, super comfy and tons of room. I can put everything for a day of climbing in there and even cram in my nikon and a few lenses. It doesn't have a ton of organizational pockets, which I like a lot. Just one huge compartment for all the necessities. Not a single complaint. Works perfectly with my 100oz camelback.

I highly doubt it. I have a -15deg Down sleeping bag and a Bibler I-tent and once I add my other winter camping items My 70L bag is A wee bit full... This bag is 32L
This pack RULES. It is durable, you don't waste time with BS pockets, and it sits well. I crag with it, haul it around in the snow, and use it to carry my stuff to the gym. And it looks hottttt. Easily carry 30 QDs, a rope, shoes, harness and chalk. No more, no less.
I've come to the conclusion that there is no pack that does it all and my backpack collection is starting to resemble my wife's purse collection. With most of my packs designed for fast/light pursuits, I needed a rockclimbing bag that could hold up to the extra weight and abuse. This is a bomber bag with the perfect amount of space for a day at the crag. It fits everything I need INSIDE (60m rope, 50m webbing, harness, helmet, shoes, quickdraws, chalkbag, lunch, first aid kit, etc). If I run some cord through the loops on the lid and strap my rope to the outside, it opens up some space for my lightweight sleeping bag and bivy. I'm very confident that the material and build will hold up for a long time.
Is the Bdel Demon hydro-compatible? Meaning does it have a hydration sleeve & port? I know the info on this page says it is, but I have found several other sites that say no, yes, no yes, etc. Oh and do you know by chance what size torso a small fits?
Used this pack for a 30 mile hike the first weekend I had it. It was large enough for my bivi, bag and some gear. I am 5'11" and pack fits great. Frame allows breathability. I wound 550 Cord through the eye-loops on top flap to make additional carabiner clipping options. I have gotten numerous compliments, and consequently recommend this pack to anyone who strives to navigate lite.
Used this pack for a 30 mile the first weekend I had it. Had enough room for my bivi, bag, gear and chow. Threaded 550 Cord through the eye loops on the top flap to create carabiner clipping options. Sleek design prevents hang-ups when navigating in dense foliage. I have received many compliments, and consequently recommend the pack to anyone who strives to travel lite.
Very simple pack, tough and lightweight. I use it for day hikes, weekend backpacking trips, climbing, day use for backcountry skiing, and canyoneering (clean, tough outside makes it good for this), ..and grocery shopping. It's my do it all pack. You can strap skis in with the compression straps. Very comfortable, no frills.
I´m carrying a 60m rope, shoes, harness, 12 QDs, helmet, and there is some space for simple winter clothes and a day snack. It seems to be very durable, and fits perfectly in the back. it´s possible to put the rope outside the pack too. It´s designed just for a climbing day with an approach.
