Simplicity at its finest.
Black Diamond designed its Men's Dawn Patrol LT Climbing Softshell Pant for the minimalist ice or alpine climber who values light weight over a full rack of extras. Schoeller StretchWoven fabric offers unbelievable mobility on the mountain, and it remains highly breathable for excellent relief when you work up a sweat. Black Diamond added its proprietary NanoSphere Technology to resist dirty rocks, wet ice, and even your own oily skin. And a Recco rescue reflector could help Recco-equipped patrols find you in case of an emergency.
A slim fit pulls the Dawn Patrol close to your lower body to reduce bulk, and a gusseted construction increases your range of motion. Black Diamond integrated a drawcord at the hem to cinch tightly across your waist regardless of how many layers you have on. Kickpatches at the cuffs ensure long-lasting durability that's sure to last through many first ascents, second ascents, and even final ascents for multiple seasons.

Excellent Fit and Feel
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
Used them for cross country skiing. Excellent warmth and breathability. Very light and never a problem with mobility. I think your equipment should allow you to forget your wearing it and enjoy the activity. I believe these pants accomplished this to perfection. Won't be using them for climbing but for cross country skiing they are excellent.
Crazy weird fit...
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs small
Very disappointing. I had tried on the BD Dawn Patrol Touring SS Pant at a local store and the 32 waist fit great, and I normally wear a 32 or 33. While I knew this climbing pant would be slimmer, I was shocked at the difference - these pants in a 32 fit awful, super high waist and about 3 inches too short in length. I am 6' and 170 lbs, my wife laughed and said they looked like I was wearing women's suit pants. Honestly I don't think going to the 34 waist would make a difference, the fit is just bizarre, sorry to say that as I was pumped about buying these pants with a gift card I had received.
