Crampons and soft gear mix about as well as ten people in a four-person elevator. Stash your mighty 'pons in the rough-and-tough Black Diamond Crampon bag to make sure there aren't any hurt feelings, ropes, or jackets when you unpack and rack up after the approach. Vinyl-coated nylon keeps the pointy parts away from the things that, frankly, don't like to be pointed at.
Bottom Line: Crampons and elevators don't mix well, either.
I was some 20 miles from the car on a multi-day ski tour, and my friend's crampons punctured his CamelBack bladder. My friend and I didn't like him that much so instead of sharing one of our extra Nalgenes, we forced him to drink out of his pee bottle the rest of the trip.
Since no one else has answered your question I will try to help. I don't have the saber tooth crampons however I have the Petzl Dart and Petzl Vasak and they both fit fine in the bag with room to spare. Looking at the pictures I don't see why it wouldn't fit. You might check the Black Diamond Toolbox, it might be bigger.I'm pretty happy with this bag, its pretty light, protects my pack and its vented so I can spray a little wd-40 on my crampons when I get home and store them in the bag. If the truth be told there really aren't many solutions for carrying crampons...

I bought one bag for each crampon and then someone gave me the tip to put both crampons into one bag. I was able to store them inside my backback or hang them from the outside.
I have (3) sets of crampons (2 BD and 1 Camp USA) and they all work fine with this bag. I never had a problem with the punctures but I store them point to point. If you store them that way there is nothing to rip the bag.
This bag fits my sabretooths just fine, even with the long center bar. Grivels have that accordion thing which makes them less compact, but BD crampons are great for this. It protects other gear nicely and the daisy chain is great for tying it on outside of the pack, which is where I like to carry my crampons. Drainage is fine, though I still store my crampons out of the bag for drying.
Note: You need to put your crampons point-to-point for this (or nearly any) bag to work well. Points will obviously go through the mesh and can go through the walls with a little effort. That's not a drawback of this bag, that's just a consequence of not using a metal box to store your crampons.
I love my BD crampon bag. It fits my Cyborgs perfectly. I tried a couple other sets to see if BD's were the only ones that fit and Petzl's Dartwins, M10 and Simonds Vampires fit fine. Don't know about Grivel, but the other fits fine. I also love this bag more than any other because of the daisy chain on the back. Petzl's doesn't have that, so if you are attaching it to your pack you are out of luck. Drains water like a champ too!
lightweight, durable and inexpensive...had to remove the "accordion" cover on my G12's to keep them from wanting to expand and having the front points tear through
Best crampon bag I found for the price. Give yourself confidence when you throw these things in your pack. No more punctures, no more muddy dirty mess. I much prefer these to the carriers that you wrap around like a burrito. This is simple and easy in the snow with gloves. Done.
Its a crampon bag. My set of Sabertooths with long center bars fit in it perfectly. It has mesh on one side to allow moisture to escape and protect your crampons from corrosion. If you put your crampons in with the points AWAY from the mesh, it will protect your pack and the other items inside from the sharp points of your crampons. It works as advertised.
Nice bag to protect my other goodies from my crampons - for the price, it's worth it to have a custom made and light bag vs making your own that probably won't work as well or allow the crampons to dry as quickly.
Cool bag that you can just store in your bag or you can attach it to your backpack in many different configurations. Has multiple loops on the back so it can fit almost any bag. The material is tough and wont easily rip from your crampons.
I am on my third bag. I don't feel my crampons are that sharp(and sure don't want them dull) and they keep punching through. I keep returning and getting the same bag as it is adequate, but also allows me to store my crampons on the outside of my pack. A thin plastic insert has given my bag more durability. The Petzl bag is heavier and doesn't have the nylon webbing on the outside. My buddies Petzl bag is however puncture proof.
I knew that many mountaineers and RMI suggest not using crampon bags on the trail ("useless" weight), but I definitely wanted a way to pack them for the flight west and for storage that kept the spikes against each other with a netted side to dry.
I couldn't agree less with those who say that the bag is too small, or that the mesh is a problem. The bag fits my BD contact strap crampons perfectly, and pretty easily every time. It's also easy to orient your poons in the bag so that the spikes point away from the mesh, which lets them dry and not rust. Furthermore, it laces nicely onto the crampon patch on my BD speed pack, and its cheeeap. You can't ask tooo much from a $15 bag.
its an OK bag if you just need to store your crampons somewhere so that they dont lay around loose. This is not a good bag to protect your pack. the fishing net on top is a flaw. I just bought a new Osprey pack and got wholes all over it even with this BD bag. I have BD cyborgs and they fit pretty snug
I thought a crampon bag was another unnecessary piece of gear and extra weight. But after wrapping my Sabretooths in various things and worrying about holes and a punctured camelback I relented. It hasn't stood the test of time - looks a little flimsy, but O.K. so far.
I'm not sure what other reviewers complaining about the small size of the bag are trying to fit in it; I am able to put in it my BlackDiamond Contact crampons and have quite a bit of room left.
Perfect fit for my Black Diamond Contact w/ ABS crampons. My crampons are fitted with long bars also. Only used 3 times but seems very durable with good quality zippers.
Ordered this crampon bag for my husband and he was thrilled! His G12's fit great in it and he loved it so much he ordered one for me! My black diamond crampons fit great in this bag as well.
Grivel G10s with long center bar will not fit fyi. Quite a few other types of crampons do not fit either from what I have read. BD can do (and usually does) better than this. Can't believe these guys did not check the sizes of various crampons out there before making this bag. Does not reflect well on the company.
ok - sorry BD, cause i love you guys... but make a bag than hangs. this bag sucks. after dropping my petzel bag off a climb this spring, i upgraded to a slightly larger BD bag. Good night - my crampons punched through on day 1! i had my petzel bag for several years, with the same points, and never punched through. so i recommend the petzel bag - its a little smaller, but the bottom fabric is so much more durable.
Couldn't BD put better / thicker fabric on the bottom? i would think so. Maybe i am just doing something wrong.
Lightweight but not as near as good as the BD Toolbox which is a slightly bigger, fully enclosed crampon/ice screw bag. If you're gonna spend money on one of these buy the Toolbox.
Bag is a little to small. Also, when it gets -15 and below it really gets stiff and mine even cracked. I would think there is a better bag out there some place. I would save your money.
This bag seems to be too big when I fold up my crampons methodically. If I just throw them in, they fit great and the bag protects everything that I dont want to get stabbed.
This bag works great, it saves your pack, down jacket, goggles, etc from the sharp points of your crampons. The Camp USA XLC 390 Crampons fit perfectly. Highly recommended, enough said.
Has anyone really tried to put a set of crampons in these bags? They are only 11" long x 5.5" wide x 3.5" high. They are good for a set of car keys, chapstick and some waterproof matches. I had to take the front points off my G12's to get them to fit. There has to be a better solution.
I wanted a bag as small as possible that my crampons would fit it in. I can't speak for for the G12's but my BD Contacts fit fine without changing the length.
I have yet to find a set of crampons that does not fit in this bag. Fully-rigid ice-climbing crampons do not, but the vast majority of crampons made since 1995 are collapsible and compact to short enough to fit in this bag just fine. If you're doing serious ice-climbing with fully rigid crampons then you want a bigger back that holds your other protection as well in any case and you wouldn't be looking at this bag.
I was some 20 miles from the car on a multi-day ski tour, and my friend's crampons punctured his CamelBack bladder. My friend and I didn't more...
Tough and easy to use. I use mine to store extra picks and my crampons. Great piece of kit for keeping sharp bits organized and easy to get to. more...
