Don't let darkness end your day. Keep going with Black Diamond's Cosmo Headlamp

Do you ever leave your headlamp behind to save weight? With the 1.6oz Black Diamond Cosmo, you'll never be caught in the dark again. This compact headlamp uses three SuperBright LEDs inside a tiltable body to light the way when your day in the outdoors runs into overtime. Powered by three AAA batteries in the front housing, the Cosmo even has a removable headband for times when you need a light, but don't need it strapped to your head.

This thing is great! I also have a Petzl Tikka Plus and generally use this lamp more. I just love the dimmer feature on it! You hold down the button and it dims way down and then eventually brightens back up to full power. So rad vs. just two lighting settings. Granted if you get the Petzl battery pack you can customize more, but certainly not on the go. Great especially for someone like me who wants to read my guidebook in the tent while my girlfriend is right next to me sawing logs.

At first I was bummed that it didn't have a red filter. I like to have a red filter as to not annoy my co-workers in the field. This thing is super bright. What I really enjoy about it is the range of the dimmers. It goes from a primal scream to a soft whisper.....I dig it!!

Light, bright and very good battery life. Great head lamp for your money. Haven't tested how waterproof it is but it is cheaper than my bomb-proof PT EOS.

This headlamp is awesome and does everything you need. It is a one button control, very light, and really bright for its size. If you're simply looking for a headlamp for hiking, climbing, or setting up camp at night, this is the way to go.

This lamp far exceeded my expectations. Much more powerful then I thought. I originally bought this to throw in my pack just-in-case, but after using it a few times im very pleased with it. Its just as powerful as my $50 lamp and significantly less. The overall quality of the elastic is not great but overall I would recommend this lamp.

The first thing I noticed when using this was how bright the light was! My first time using it was rock climbing in St. George at night. It not only lit up in front of me, but allowed everyone around me to see their gear and avoid the scorpions that come out to play at night!

This light provides you with all of the light that you need in a compact light weight unit. in a campground, you will have one of the brightest lights amongst all of the other lights. if you need more then use a large flashlight.

batteries tend to run quite long in the unit due to its efficiency. so long in fact that one should replace every so often or run the risk of the battery case cracking out the acid and ruining the light's electronics.

Couldn't ask for more, this little headlamp is perfect for the campsite or some evening hiking. Durable and bright, it has lasted me many adventures.

I bought this headlamp because it had the fewest light modes I could find. I don't want to cycle through 15 options every time I need light. High and low should do it. The Cosmo has high and low, with a strobe that's activated by pushing the button three times in quick succession. Both high and low have a dimmer option as well, which is pretty cool. Once the lamp is on, you just hold down the power button until you reach the desired dimness. More features than I wanted, but smart, well-thought-out ones.
I was very impressed that BD included Energizer brand batteries with the lamp, instead of generics. There may not be much of a difference, but it's a little peace of mind, regardless. For a $30 headlamp, it's exactly what I want. There are brighter, lighter, tougher headlamps out there, but for general use, I think this one does quite nicely. I also like that you can get it in white, which is much easier to find deep in a drybag or pack.
