Black Diamond Cobra/Viper Android Leash

Clip the Black Diamond Android Leash to your Cobra or Viper ice tool to increase security on long pitches of vertical ice, and unclip easily when you desperately need to place a screw. This isn't one of those works-only-in-the-warm-and-dry-shop leashes. The Android Leash has proven itself in Alaska, Patagonia, and Canadian Rockies' mixed nastiness. Black Diamond's shaft-mounted stud design also makes the Android a great choice when you want to sport your tools leashless for a couple pitches of mixed, and then clip in for the final ice headwall.

Great for alpine

These leashes are great for longer alpine climbs when my grip gets tired. The latch/unlatch system is safe and has worked quickly, and with gloves on for me so far. One of the metal flaps did get bent somehow during my first outing with them, and I had to climb with one tool unlatch which defeated the purpose. I was able to bend it back at home, so not a huge deal. I do also think these leashes are over priced, since you have to buy two, but that doesn't affect the review score.

Works Better than Any Other Known

Being A Senior Citizen, I started out climbing on leashes and have not yet been convinced to lose them. This is the best leash I know of (though they are dying breed), and with a bit of experience does the job perfectly. (Clip the metal snap onto the wrist strap when putting in v-threads or anchors etc. to keep it out of the way)
