I have a pair of Salomon Rocker 2's (142 / 122 / 132) that I am looking to get some skins for. Would the 125mm version of this skin work? Would it cover fully enough? If not, can you suggest another skin that would work better that I should look into? Thanks!

Responded on

Hey Joshua D.,

Thanks for the question. When it comes to using the Black Diamond Ascension Nylon STS Skins with your Salomon Rocker2 skis, you'll get a decent amount of coverage for flat/straight line skinning. If you'll be side-hilling a lot or doing a ton of technical skinning over the course of your season, I'd think about going with the split version of these skins for more coverage

What size skins would I buy for Madshus Epoch skis 165?

if you are looking for edge to edge coverage go with the 95mm width skin. If you want to save some weight the 80mm width would also work.

I'd get the 140mm and trim to the tip/waist/tail for max coverage and grip or the 110mm and trim to the waist for some weight savings and a little less grip.

So i originally trimmed my skins to fit a pair of 177 mantras, but i want to transfer my touring bindings to some 186 gotamas but the problem is the skins are too short. Is there a longer tail strap or something that i can get to fit the longer ski without having to buy entirely new skins?

Best Answer Responded on

hey dude, sorry but even if black diamond sold a longer strap, it would make the skin loose a lot of traction when skinning. If I were you I would check out blackdiamonds online store, They are haveing a sale on skins
P.S. (sorry backcountry)

Reliable and very durable

These are hands down the best, most reliable skins on the market! If you are looking for a trustworthy skin for your next tour then look no further than the BD Ascension nylon STS skin. If you are looking for a lighter weight option they also make the BD Glidelight, equally as reliable just weights a bit less for the pair. These are ideal for a skier using twin tip skis as the clip system adjusts easily to any ski you can throw at it. Packs up in a nice storage bag and comes with an easy to use cutting tool, to size to any ski! Just another killer product by those guys over at Black Diamond, oh and did I mention that they are a local SLC company! Support Local, Buy Local! MADE IN THE USA!

Great Skins

I have had two sets of these on two different pairs of skis. They are super easy to cut with the included tool and sizing lengthwise is a breeze. Uphill traction is superb, even on difficult traverses. They stick quite well, even after sitting in the closet for several summers. This is a great product.

Solid

Not the lightest out there but they are tough. I am certain that they will last me a few seasons. Only takes a few minutes to cut using the tool included. Watch the BD video below on or their site if you haven't done it before.

What size should I go with for the Rossignol S3s 168?

I suggest getting the 125mm skins and cutting them to fit the sidecut of your skis.

the workhorses...

These skins just work, and continue to do so, for a long time, no matter what I am skinning on or how much. I love how bomber they are, and that one pair can be used on several different lengths of skis.

Super Skins

Still the best skins I've used. The grip is better than G3, K2 or the other models of BD skins that I've tried. Definitely durable, my only need to buy more is to fit new skis. I notice I grip on the uphill versus my companions using other brands of skins. My own experiences match what I've observed. The lighter weight BD skins (mohair/mix) also seem to get more snow build up in adverse conditions than these all nylon model.
Do note that if you want to easily trim these to your ski forget about the included BD trimmer (just a blade cutter) and get a G3 trimming tool. Makes the process much easier and cleaner.

What size skin do I need for my Rossi S3 (178). Anything I need to know about attaching skins to twin tips?

Responded on

For full coverage, get the 125mm skins. Twin tip attachment isn't any different than regular attachment, so no issues to consider there.

I would recomend getting the 110's just because you can always trim them

Can't beat em

Far superior to the G3 skins. Easy to cut, easy to put on, and most importantly easy to take off.

What length should I get for my 185 Armada JJ's?

Responded on

If you want to save a little cash and perhaps might not have all coverage on the tips (which is alright), then go with the 125s. If you are concerned about total coverage, you should go with the 145s.

Great Skin

I have a couple pairs of these skins, and they always work great for me! They pack down pretty small and are not that heavy. The best way to know what size skins to buy is to get them to match the widest part of your ski, then from there once you get them you will just cut them down to the exact size of your ski. If you scroll down on these reviews you will see a great video explanation of this. Enjoy and be safe!

so if my skis are 132/102/120 would i get skins 110 wide or 125 wide or 140 wide?

Best Answer Responded on

You have two options: Go narrow and save weight, but sacrifice uphill traction, or; go wide, cut off a lot of material to fit your skis perfectly, sacrifice lightless, but gain better traction.

I would suggest that you go wider with the 140mm and cut to fit. You may encounter some terrain where the wider skins will save you major headaches.
