Tip loop too small

Well, this is my first BD skin with the new tip loops. One main issue, they don't work for a 156mm shovel (Surface Live Life 191cm, 156 / 120 / 135 ). The loop goes over the tip, but would never grip or stay put. Any fat twin w/ a blunt tip is probably suspect, like Moment or a Volkl Kuro.

So now I have to order oversize tip loops from BDel. Not so great.

do you think i could get away with 125mm width and my skis deminsions are 133x116x128? i dont weigh that much

125mm will be perfect. You will need to trim them to fit your skis shape. Your weight is not really a factor.
Enjoy!

Does anyone know what size is best for the BD Voodoos. Their dimensions are 123 88 112 175cms. Thanks

The 95mm skin will be perfect for those as they can be trimmed to the appropriate shape.

I have a DIY split board the width of each "ski" is 140mm. do you think that the 110mm wide skins will fit? it means that each side will have about 15mm exposed.

Thanks in advance.

The shape of these would be really awkward for a split board. Viole makes skins specially designed for slit boards, I suggest you look into them.

Amazing.

Who knew skis could stick going up hill. It still amazes me when I use em over a steeper step. Kick turning is probably something I'll never love, but oh well. The only times these have failed me is skinning up a ridge that was pretty wind blow and some how had a 1 inch layer of snow on top of ice. But I guess that is what crampons are for.

Hi,

I just bought a set of Black Diamond Ascension Nylon Standard ski climbing skins. They have no tail mount but claim the glue is so sticky, tail mount hardware is not necessary. Anyone have insight on how to best use these and if indeed the claims for these to hold up without sliding off the ski's are valid.

Thank you

The glue will be all you need. They are designed more around twin tips, since attachments tend to slide off on them. Plus they are easier to get on and off, since you only stick on, no tail clips.

Yeah, that's right. The downside is that you should pay a little more attention to applying them, because if they get snowed up on the glue, you're kinda hosed.

I skied a season with beat-up ugly purple Ascention (pre-BD) skins with no tails and bad glue that a friend found at a trailhead. They worked just fine except one time I put them on in a hurry, and they got snow under one and slid off.
