I've been wearing Black Diamond gloves and mittens for about 5 years now. I've got 2 pairs of gloves in size medium and a mitten in size xsmall. Perhaps their gloves run small across the board...not sure. I get very cold hands and found that Black Diamond made the best quality of warm gloves and mittens that allowed me to stay toasty skiing and riding in frigid storms, even on those long chair lift rides where you think your face is gonna freeze off from the dermabrasion of wind and ice crystals. I've never been disappointed up until now. These gloves have a very thick (almost hard) fuzzy fleece like a stuffed toy lamb liner that is possibly too thick for the glove. They are extremely warm until you actually need them to keep your hands warm. I was hoping to find a glove version of my Black Diamond mittens, they have leather palms and the BDRY feature, Polartec Thermal Pro, and a SUPER warm SOFT black removable liner that doesn't over heat your hands but still keeps them incredibly warm and dry...almost too warm for warm spring skiing days but the bomb in winter. These Ankhiale pair of gloves have a very durable shell made of Gor-tex, they won't be warm without a liner. I removed the fleece liners from inside the gloves and plan to try them with another pair of liners. They just might turn into my new spring glove but they certainly won't work for winter. I've only used them once, I only took a few runs because I couldn't feel my fingers anymore (weather was sunny and cold but not THAT cold). In fact, they hurt so much that my boyfriend had to carry my skies to my truck (He knew I must've been in pain because I've never asked for help carrying my equipment before); I couldn't even pick them up and put them together because of my frozen fingers! Just to be clear, they were not too small. In fact, I wondered if they were too big at first due to some extra space at the finger tips. So, before I removed the tags and used them, I brought them to the local gear shop to try them on in a small. The sales rep helped me and we both realized that the medium was a good fit for me. I feel let down by Black Diamond with this glove...I've been bragging about their gloves and mittens from the first year I used them. They've always been the only thing to keep my hands warm! Apparently they're not all created equal...I will still trust them for my winter glove but it just won't be this particular pair.
Perfect Mid-Weather glove!

I love these gloves, they are perfect for the day when it isn't a blizzard outside. I would recommend these for any use! I use them mostly for snowboarding. They are nice because it is easy to wear your liners with them, the pinky finger of your glove does not come out with your liner! SIZE UP! These gloves run small!
Awesome gloves, Tiny sizes
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs small
- Size Bought: Medium and Large
I ordered a Medium and Large so see what would fit best. My first impression of the gloves was that they seem really well constructed. (I'd hope so for the price tag) The boiled wool liner is way thicker on the top of your hand and very comfortable. The liner stays in the shell really well (due the cuff of Velcro), so you would never pull them out unintentionally.
My only problem is that the Large is still too small! I could hardly fit my hand in the Medium. Come on Black Diamond! I am a regular 5'8' 130lb athletic lady. Were these even tested on real women? My across the knuckle measurement on my dominant hand is 19cm/7.5'', at least make an XL.
