Why We Like The Alpine FLZ Trekking Poles

If your knee can handle the first six miles of the trail into Wind River's Cirque, but the last six miles will require help, then we recommend Black Diamond's Alpine FLZ Trekking Poles. These poles fold into three sections so you can strap them to your backpack for the flat part, and Black Diamond's SlideLock secures the poles so they don't collapse on you midstep. FlickLock adjustments let you lengthen or shorten each pole to tackle various degrees of steepness, and both the tips and baskets are interchangeable for powder baskets if you want to take these poles skiing.

best hiking pole brand out there

I gave them this score for durability and comfort on grip and duel grips always go with the bigger size range if u can I'm a 115 normally but go to 120-125 on the down hill to help take the downward pressure off on my knees and than not hunching over when using them

Excellent

Have used these for about a year now. Training for and hunting elk and bighorn in steep country with a heavy pack. Absolutely happy. Must have. No damage or failures despite heavy use. Pack down small. Make sure and watch YouTube video on proper strap use.

Good pole for split boarding. The locking mechanism is a little finicky but overall they work well

Noodles

If you want to ski with a wet noodle as a pole i highly recommend this pole. For a real pole please look elsewhere.

Great trekking poles, durable

Took these elk hunting last weekend and did 6 miles of rough terrain with 75lb pack. They where great. Really sturdy easy to assemble and locking mechanism stays true even under sig load

These poles are perfect for hiking and hunting. This model collapses shorter than the slide-only models which makes them easy to store when not in use. Great durability, they’ve been caught between rocks during some balancing acts and are yet to bend. Scratches, that’s just going to happen. Overall, definitely worth the money and I would purchase them again.

Fantastic sticks!

I love how compact these z-poles are when collapsed. The flip lock adjustment has a hook and loop strap that both keeps the poles bundled when collapsed and when extended the same strap keeps the flip lock from accidentally opening. They are strong and reasonably light.

Bombproof

I used these to hike over 30 miles in the Colorado wilderness over snow and up multiple high mountain passes. The cork is extremely comfortable and the rigidity of the poles helps you go faster and further than you otherwise would be able to go. Set up and take down is fast and easy: much better than than my old alpine ergo cork poles. After I got back to the trail head, I left these poles on the ground. I stupidly ran over them with my truck (both front and rear wheels). When I got out to inspect the poles, they were fine! Minor cosmetic issues but 100% functional. Kudos to black diamond for building such a high quality product that performa excellently.
