Ideal for winter camping, the Big Agnes Storm King 0-Degree Down Sleeping Bag weighs only 3lb 6oz (regular size) and has a roomy rectangular shape which is extremely comfortable to sleep in. To make the Storm King so lightweight, Big Agnes filled the top baffles of the bag with 650-fill down and didn't use insulation on the underside of the bag, which would get compressed (and therefore would be useless) when you sleep. Instead, on the bottom of the Storm King is a rectangular pad sleeve that holds your sleeping pad securely in place. *Compatible with Big Agnes' 20in-wide rectangular pads.
Bottom Line: Save weight and bulk, and stay warm while camping in chilly weather with the Big Agnes Storm King Down Sleeping Bag.
Does this bag work with other sleeping pads than just Big Agnes pads? As long as the pad size is the same as the Big Agnes pad size, it should fit right?
I can't sleep on my back very long so this bigger bag alows me to move around. I have only used this bag during summer colorado mtn nights no winter use and it's very warm. I coupled it with the 2 track pad as well as the memory foam pad for car camping, comfy. had to get my wife the same set up.
The bags overall length is [Reg] 6' and [Lng] 6'8", but suggested user heights are as posted and slightly shorter: regular/up to 5'10", long/up to 6'6".

I recently purchased this bag to fulfill my need for a warm winter bag that I could use backpacking wherever I needed. I took this bag on a 13 mile trail in TN in feb where the lows at night dropped to about 23 degrees. Slept comfortably at these temps with just a baselayer and long johns on (both patagonia capilene). I was warm and cozy. The next night I decided to really push the bag to the limit and slept in just underwear. I was warm, but when I woke up in the morning at about 6 oclock, I felt a little chilled; but thats what I get for experimenting. I realize that I could have been from my prolite sleeping pad since it is not insulated. Overall I am very pleased with this bag. It cinches up tight and the draft collar does wonders. I spilled water on it on night when I was pulling out my camelbak and the water beaded right up on the nylon. Did not saturate any of the down with water. The long is very roomy and spacious even for a guy my size (I am 6'3" 220 pounds). After hearing the justification for the lack of down of the bottom of the bag I was a little skeptical, but I am a believer now. Compressed down does NOTHING. The integrated pad sleeve and pillow sleeve is awesome and I think I will only buy BA bags from now on. It turns your individual sleeping accessories into a sleep system. Everything is integrated. Weighs a little more than the other 800 fill BA bags but I believe that this one is a little roomier. Worth the little extra weight and substantial difference in price.
Given the rectangular shape, you should be fine in the regular. But if you want to stuff extra gear inside the bag to keep warm or want some extra comfort space, go with the long.
And yes, it offers quite a bit more leg room than the mummy bags. With the rectangular, you should be able to keep extra clothes between your legs comfortably.
I am a Big Agnes lover--Pomer Hoit Bag--Love it--Seedhouse 2UL tent--Great---Their pads are the best--This bag left me w/ cold spots 2 nights this past winter on a backpack trip in the Adirondacks. It was cold - lows near 0-degrees, but even w/ a down jacket and pants on I was chilled most of the night. I like the room afforded by this bag -vs- a mummy but I'll stick w/ 800 down in the winter--Much warmer and lighter.
I have my down bags professionally cleaned. More costly but well worth it. If you must wash your bag at home, use ONLY a front loading washer, on the gentlest setting, using special down soap. Tumble AIR dry, periodically breaking up the wet clumps of down that will develop. Finish by line drying, preferably outdoors. MAKE SURE NOT TO CARRY YOUR BAG WHEN IT'S WET UNLESS TOTALLY SUPPORTED OR YOU COULD TEAR OUT THE INTERNAL BAFFLES! WET DOWN IS VERY HEAVY.
How big is big?? This is quite large. So large that unless Big Agnes puts 800 down into to replace its 24 oz 650 fill down it won't sustain you in 0 weather when inside a tent. You need the Yampa 40 to stay warm in 0. Trust me. This is a +20 bag--but large enough for a guy who wears size 36" pants legs and has 34" sleeve length.
