We don't use the word ingenious too often.

As far as sleeping bags go, 3.9 pounds is pretty light, especially when you're talking about a bag that will keep you warm in the dead of winter. On top of all the warmth, the Big Agnes Storm King 0-degree Sleeping Bag has a roomy rectangular design and can even be zipped together with another rectangular Big Agnes bag. The main reason for such a light weight is the fact that Big Agnes eliminated unnecessary insulation from the bottom of the bag. When you're sleeping on top of insulation, it doesn't keep you warm because it has no loft and therefore no air (or heat) is trapped inside. Instead, Big Agnes put a Sleeping Pad sleeve in its place, so you have the trapped air in the sleeping pad keeping you warm, and at the same time your pad stays underneath you. On to top of that, Big Agnes went with a hydrophobic down fill, so the Storm King will maintain insulating properties if it should happen to get wet.

  • 0 degree temperature rating
  • 650-fill hydrophobic down insulation
  • Rectangular shape
  • Water-resistant nylon ripstop outer shell
  • Down proof nylon taffeta lining
  • Ergonomic hood
  • Draft tube and collar
  • 70-inch side zipper
  • Integrated pad sleeve
  • Nylon stuff sack and mesh storage sack included

Unanswered Question

Would this be considered a 4 season sleeping bag? Is it best to match it with a Big Agnes pad, and if so should it be a 0 degree pad?

What pad sizes work with this sleeping bag?

Pad sizes that work with each sleeping bag size:

Regular (Sleeping Bag): 20"x72" or 51cm x 183cm

Long (Sleeping Bag): 20"x78" or 51cm x 198cm

Great at the Canadian Ski Marathon

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this bag after having a claustrophobic panic attack in a smaller mummy bag. This bag is very roomy, very warm, and a good weight. I used it at the 2 day Canadian Ski Marathon, skiing 50 miles Saturday, camping out, and skiing another 50 miles on Sunday. I was very comfortable in this bag at -5 degrees.

Hello! Is the sleeping bag on sale together with a sleeping pad?
