Gigantic, light weight tent

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this tent to use on a 7-day hike on the West Coast Trail. I'm 6'3", and I was having a really tough time finding 1-person, double-wall, lightweight tent. This is really the only tent I found that I was really happy with. There are a number of UL tents/tarps from various companies that I might fit in, but they are hard to try in person. All that said, you will be amazed at how large this tent is once it's fully staked; I think it could fit two small people.
I did notice that most nights, the fly will touch the inner netting at the foot of the tent, but stayed separate everywhere else. Tent is relatively easy to pitch (I was pitching it solo, and didn't have any problems). It packs up well, and is relatively small. Vestibule was large enough for my pack + boots, and I could still get in/out. Speaking of which, getting in and out is fine; because there's so much space you can go in head first and swing your legs under you to the bottom. When unzipping the vestibule, there is a piece of Velcro that prevents the door (wet due to condensation) from falling on to you.
I was worried about not having much mesh like most other lightweight tents these days, but the nylon body is great. The dual-layer door has a mesh layer, which you can use as a window. It was great, and I generally left it open to increase air-flow.

With so little mesh, how was the condensation?

Responded on

Late answer, but here goes.
I didn't have any particular condensation problems. Even though it's not mesh, the main body is very lightweight nylon, and I'm assuming it breaths very well.
