Yes.
This thing does what it's supposed to.
Now my encampment is truly a 15 degree bag.
Almost too comfy. I didn't even want to make coffee.

I have the Original Q-Core and it is 20 in wide inflated. I measured a Q-Core SL mummy and a new Insulated Air Core mummy and they were both right around 18 inches inflated. I will say I have the BA lost ranger and the original Q-Core barely fits the sleave. The smaller footprint on the SL might actually work better with system. I am going to contact BA and inquire.
Answer from BA: Yes the Q-core SL is not correct in size and weight. It is actually 1-2? smaller width and length depending on model and weighs 1-2 oz heavier depending on model.
This is something that they realized after production and they are aware of it. If anyone has an issue we can cover it with our returns but BA will also help out any customer that is upset.

Is BA planning on fixing the issue with later products, or just adjusting the specs? I bought this pad, and I'm not a large person, so I fit on the pad just fine, but if they're planning on making it bigger to fix the specs, I'd rather get a larger one...

It sounded like they had not decided how they were going to proceed. I would not expect a new model any time this season. If you like the pad I would just stick with it. It is still a great product.

Size Comparison

Showing the size difference between two Regular (20x72) sized pads. Exped Ul7 on bottom, Q Core SL on top.I should also mention that the top part the Big Agnes pad looks longer but in fact the pad has a decent amount of extraneous fabric all the way around.

I have measured both of these pads except the BA was the Mummy regular size and you are correct. The Exped is a true 20x72 where as the Q-Core SL mummy was more like 18x70. If the size is not an issue the Q-Core is more comfortable in my opinion.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I was very excited upon hearing that the Q CORE (the most comfortable pad out there, in my opinion) was going to be upgraded to an ultralight format that would only be slightly heavier than my EXPED UL7.

After picking up the pad I must say that it certainly is comfortable. The unique air chamber system leads to an incredibly cushioned pad (especially for back sleepers). The R Value is terrific and the pad deflates and stores terrifically small. The pad is also tougher than expected, despite the Ultralight fabric.

The downside? The pad is NOT sized correctly. The regular size is not 20"x72". It is much closer to 17.5"x70". This makes a BIG difference as you will NOT be able to rest your arms on the pad at ANY point while laying on your back. For side sleepers, some part of your body (either your knees or your butt) will be hanging off the pad.

To suffer both a size and weight penalty for this pad (despite how comfortable it is on my back) is too much for me. Unless you're a smaller person or you don't mind springing for the Large/Wide size, I would steer clear.

Is the size any different than a regular q core? I mean to say, do you own a non-SL q core, in the same size, and it IS 20 inches wide, or is this just a problem with the entire q core line?

ohe,

I own the orignal Q-Core and both the width and length are as specified. Im not sure if the problem lies in the SL line, or if Ryans case is unique.
