Moon Hill Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Down

After all the fair-weather campers pack it in for the year, bust out the Big Agnes Moon Hill 0 Degree Down Sleeping Bag and sleep soundly through the off-season solitude. Just like the rest of Big Agnes’ bags, this 600-fill, mummy-style down bag features an integrated pad sleeve instead of insulation on the bottom, which allows for a wider cut and more insulation on top where it counts. The bag works in conjunction with Big Agnes pads or another compatible-size pad (sold separately) to give you a warm night’s rest when the other chumps are huddled inside with the heat on.

Bottom Line: Sleep soundly through the off season.

I have had 2 moon hill bags, one left and one right hand zips, for several years now. One is regular length and the other is long, and they zip together very easily!

From Big Agnes site:

"First you need to be sure that the bags have the same size zipper and that one bag is a left-zip and one a right-zip. You can find the zipper size of our current bags listed on the detail page for each bag. If you have an older model please contact us to confirm the zipper size."

I take from this that if you have to like sleeping bags, one LH and one RH, that YES they will zip together.

Don't know about 0 Degrees

I've had this bag for a few years now. I've camped with it in Japan and the States. I've had it in the snow, rain, and everything in-between. Overall it's plush and cozy, but I can't help but say that this bag isn't my first choice when it comes to cold weather gear. The big minus for me is lack of insulation on the bottom. I know that air is the best insulator, but I gotta say, I get some chills through the floor when the outside temp approaches the 20 degree mark. I have a North Face 0 degree down bag, and I stay warmer in that because it has some insulation on the bottom. I am a wiggler at night, so maybe that has something to do with it? Overall it's a great bag, but if you want to go anywhere close to 0 degrees, I would go with a higher fill count bag and some insulation on the bottom.

I bought this bag for my wife because she's always cold. She's 5'8", and 130#, so not a lot of extra "insulation" on her body. We tried this a couple weekends ago and she was more than cozy in it. Now granted, we weren't in zero degrees, but it was in the 40's and she said she was HOT, and actually had to open it up. Appears to be well made, and plenty light enough to pack. Fairly bulky when fluffed up, but does compress well.

It can handle slight dampness, but I wouldn't take this to the Pac NW or anywhere that rains a lot. Go with synthetic in those situations.

I disagree with Mike T. You run a huge risk of damaging your mummy bag sleeve if you try to fit in a rectangular pad. It only fits the BA mummy pad and even that is a very tight fit. I would not recommend even attempting to fit that pad into the sleeve.

You might be able to squeeze a rectangular pad but I think the mummy pad would work better.
