Description

Quick as a bunny.

During one particularly nasty jackrabbit infestation, a Colorado farmer paid 25 cents for every critter that was "removed" from his property, a plan that grew so popular that locals jokingly called the collection of hunters' tents that sprang up on his property a "jackrabbit hotel". You don't have to be hunting coneys to dig the Big Agnes Jack Rabbit SL 2-Person 3-Season Tent, though; in fact, it's more suited for backpackers who want a superlight tent for all their spring, summer, and fall adventures.

Being superlight doesn't condemn the Jack Rabbit to a marginally-useful purgatory. Big Agnes took care to ensure that it's actually completely decked out for comfort and convenience, starting with a 2-pole hub design that's easy to set up and gives plenty of head room. The lightweight aluminum DAC Pressfit poles are designed to stand up to strong winds, and fully-taped seams keep moisture from creeping in. The body of the Jack Rabbit is primarily mesh, letting you fall asleep looking at the stars in good weather, although the ripstop nylon fly is lightweight, easy to set up, and can even be used on its own with the available Jack Rabbit footprint if you're looking to save weight. Double mesh doors and matching vestibules let you enter and exit without trampling your partner, and allow you to leave your boots outside without worrying about rain or dew turning them into soggy, smelly, blister-causing disasters. Big Agnes even hooked the Jack Rabbit up with two media pockets and cord ports, so you can tune out your partner without disturbing them—you don't hate them, you just wish they were someone else.

  • Superlight DAC Pressfit 2-pole hub design with plastic clips
  • Mesh body and dual doors with vestibules with storm flaps
  • Fully-taped seams
  • Dual media pockets and two mesh storage pockets
  • Quick Sash door stowing system
  • Reflective guylines and corner webbing
  • Fast Pitch fly-only option
  • Footprint and gear loft sold separately

Nice lightweight tent

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I love how light this tent is. Great for backpacking. Material is very thin so need to be careful not to tear or rip fabric. I got the footprint as well and the whole thing can be set up in 10 minutes or less. Nice vestibule area for packs & boots.

reliable and solid

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got this tent to replace an old REI model that had been slowly leaking, the Jack Rabbit is the same weight, the same size, and MUCH more reliable! I love this tent in wet weather, while going through the White Mountains, it was very wet for me, and at first I had wished I had had a slightly lighter tent (which may be the ONLY con about this tent, it is slightly on the heavy side) but once night fell and the rains came, the shack Rabbit did its job, and better than most could ever do! I am extremely pleased with this bad boy and would recommend it to friends, and would certainly consider replacing it if damaged or stolen. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars, and not 5 is because it is a little heavy, but the dual doors are worth it!

Nice tent

Awesome tent well made going to take into the mountains for the first time this weekend I will post results.

Responded on

Just got back on another trip loved this over the weekend great space for a 2 person. If you like extra room go for the three person. This tent has room for me and my gear. If I wanted to add a friend we could lat side by side on sleeping bags be okay. Gear would go just outside the screen doors. It is made well I can see that for sure.

Dependable. Easy to set up.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had this tent for a several years now, and I couldn't be happier! I have many praises about this tent with little negative feedback. First, I love the two vestibules. It makes getting out to pee in the middle of the night a cinch, as you don't have to roll over your partner and wake them up. Also having two vestibules is great for maximizing tent space by storing gear outside (but still out of the rain/snow/dust). The tent packs small and light enough to fit in my 65L pack. Setting up the tent is easy! It's intuitive and fast. There is one main pole and another smaller pole at the end. There are two mesh pockets inside for storing quick access stuff like headlamp, knife, baby wipes. All this for a totally reasonable price. You won't be disappointed. My only warning- I am 5ft, 115 lbs. I usually share this tent with my boyfriend who is 6ft 180 lbs. We fit comfortably; however, two grown men or two large ladies might feel this 2 person to be a squeeze.
