Our house, in the middle of the woods.
Ditch the computers, video games, TV, and smartphones for the weekend, jam the family into the station wagon, and spend the weekend exploring the closest national park and sleeping under the stars in the Big Agnes Big House 4 3-Season 4-Person Tent. With plenty of floor space to sleep the whole gang and enough headroom to stand up, the Big House has the dimensions to help limit sibling squabbles (although Johnny and Sally should still probably sleep on opposite sides), and features a color-coded four-pole system for easy set-up, letting you spend more time hiking, relaxing, and setting marshmallows on fire.
Two large doors make it easy to get in and out without trampling your tentmates (If you've ever had your face stepped on when you're asleep, you know how big of a bummer it really is), and roll-up fly walls with Quick Stash doors let you enjoy the crisp night air without having to smell the dirt and sweat of a successful weekend. The Big House has a ridiculous 18 interior mesh pockets, too, which hold flashlights, glasses, books, and pretty much anything else you can think of. All the seams are fully-taped to keep water out and, in a thoughtful touch, Big Agnes made the guylines and webbing reflective, so you don't trip over it in the dark, bringing the whole tent down and mashing your face into the ground. You can also grab the available footprint and vestibule to help with waterproofing, setup, and storage, making the Big House even more tricked-out than it already is.

Excellent Car Camping Tent
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I recently used my new Big Agnes Big House 4 tent on a camp/bike trip to Cloudland Canyons State Park in NW Georgia. It was easy to set up by myself - took roughly 20 minutes to erect the tent (with footprint) and vestibule.
While the back door does not have bug netting and remained closed, rolling up the fly on the sides (see photo) provides decent cross airflow.
The third night of the trip brought strong thunderstorms with torrential downpours and the Big House performed GREAT. In the morning, there was a very small amount of water that appeared to have seeped in through the seams in the back door but it was such a small amount, a single sheet of paper towel was all that was needed to "mop" it up. I highly recommend the Big House 4 tent, vestibule and footprint for car camping.
Great family tent
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
The Big Agnes Big house is a great size and value for our family of four. Plenty of room for everyone to sleep comfortably (and roomy enough to play a couple rounds of duck duck goose on rainy afternoons if you need to, and we have). I love all the pockets and two full doors.
