- Q & A
Works well on calm water
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I’ve spent all of my time on the traditional Epoxy (non-inflatable) Stand-up Paddle boards so I was a bit skeptical to try inflatable. Needless to say, I was shocked to see how stiff it remained when standing on it for hours. I used a 10’6 which is rated for 200 lbs (I’m right at the cusp) and it held me with ease. I had no issue with stability and at no point did I feel it getting soft.
My use was strictly on flat calm water so I cannot contest its ability to ride waves (which is advertised). Also I found that paddling was harder with this board than my other epoxy boards. I’m not sure if this had to do with my weight being so close to the recommended weight or if that’s an Inflatable thing. Overall, the drag wasn’t terrible but enough to feel it.
What I do like about the inflatable is its ease of transport, store and carrying. There are 3 different handles to help you drag, lift or pull this board around the shoreline. Also there is space up front to hold down any additional gear you want to take with you out on the water. The fin is super easy to mount and everything easily fits in the backpack when your finished using it.
