Description

The four-season, do-it-all armor for your dome.

Protect your head all winter with the Bern Watts Hard Hat Helmet; when summer rolls around, pop out the knit liner and shred the skate park or dirt pump track comfortably. Skiing, snowboarding, skating or biking, the Brock foam inside helps to protect your head from multiple, lower-level impacts rather than one huge, catastrophic hit. For everyone who lives in a state where the sun scorches your eyeballs 350 days a year, Bern added a mini-brim to shield your peepers.
  • Hard Hat version with Brock Foam is not EN/AST/CPSC certified for severe single impacts, but it is able to withstand multiple, lighter hits without requiring replacement (as compared to Zipmold and EPS foam, which is certified but must be replaced after a single hit, however hard or soft)
  • Removable knit liner allows for year-round action sport use—leave it in to fight off the winter chill and take it out when the weather warms up

This helmet runs small. I usually wear a small but this model/brand I wear a medium.

First one kept me safe and sound through many bonks and bumps on the skis and longboard, as well as a tremendous bike crash. Number two will surely do the same. Comfortable and stylee. Bern has my whole family protected.

I don't know if there is a better helmet out there... Maybe. But I didn't find it. I tried varoious other brands and even different models of bern and this bad boy was the right decision.

Venting to keep you cool, or an internal vent cover to keep you warm. Light, 'fairly' low profile, attractive, stylish, useful brim, I could go on.

With terrible brokerage on my shipping to Canada I should have looked harder for a local supply, but the quick shipping and awesome product make up for it. Money beats hassle sometimes. If you're us local - just buy it.

Fit is similar to my protech bmx helmet. Large is large. I can only assume the rest fit similar. Speaking of Fit, this bucket is comfy. Similar to smith but better than other bern - IMO.

I have used this helmet several times skiing this year and has not let me down yet. The removable knit liner is very warm, I had to remove it when the temp was about 30 because it was getting to hot. I am an advanced skier and this helmets adds that extra protection needed one the dangerous slopes and on the back-country trails. I would recommend this helmet to everyone.

Other thoughts
There are several places to mount a camera to this helmet. I have a GoPro2 and this helmet carries the weight well and doesn't move around while skiing.

The vent holes at the top of the helmet (great for summer use and bike riding) prevent any logos to go on that area limiting the amount of signage on the helmet. However I did manage to find room for my backcountry sticker :).

I love this helmet! I have a ton of hair and it can make sizing a helmet tricky. I got this and it fits my head with out being huge and gapey everywhere else. I originally had the audio version but it shortly out after a few ski trips. I went with this one and love it!

This helmet is incredibly classy. My steeze was maximized in seconds! Holy Nutballs! It's freakin' fabulous. Soft, warm, classy. Also classy. Jesus, it's classier than James Bond.

this is a pretty nice piece, it looks good and fits well. Its got a quality warm liner for skiing that covers your ears and lower portions of your head. it also has a foam disk that fits inside to minimize heat loss through the vents (just dont loose it between winters). Without the warm stuff the helmet still fits like it should, its just super cozy with the warm stuff in! keep in mind that if your buying the Hard Hat rather than the helmet, that you might be a little surprised by how flexible the outer plastic is. its still real sturdy and I've been protected through multiple quality hits, but it not like wearing a Nalgene bottle on your head.this also means that you'll have some gnarly battle scratches after some of the more abrasive hits (easy and cool fix: PUT A GOAT ON IT! or any sticker). All in all its a badass helmet thats gunna prevent you from talking like mike tyson when your 60.

I got a size medium in this and it is too...

I got a size medium in this and it is too small.
I also decided I want the EPS version.
Anyone know if a size large on the eps version would work maybe. I like a looseish fit as i get headaches easy from even slight pressure on my head.

Mine (also medium) felt way too tight at first. After like a few hours on my head, it pretty much feels perfect. Try wearing it around a little. I did it in my house while watching movies.

Is there a set of pads to put in the helmet...

Is there a set of pads to put in the helmet once you remove the knit for summer use?

Felt some pressure on the forehead so thanks to Backcountry I was able to exchange it for a size up. Great looking helmet! Warm on the ears too...
