Watts Brock Helmet - Men's

You asked for a ventilated version of the Baker, and Bern listened. Introducing: the Watts Helmet, featuring the breathable, repeat-impact protection of Brock Foam. Getting it done in all seasons is the name of Bern’s game, and the Watts fills in the gaps where the ventless Baker couldn’t go. Perfect for spring park days, O.B. hikes, and sunny freeride MTB sessions (with the winter collar removed) the Watts takes a serious beating and comes back for more. Brock Foam is unique, allowing sweat vapor to escape through the shock-absorbing closed-cell foam structure, and fixed vents in the top and rear of the hard shell exterior let the breeze do the rest. It’s the perfect helmet for warmer climates, and cold days too if you rock a thin helmet liner underneath. *Hard Hat version, not EN/AST/CPSC certified for severe single impacts.

Bottom Line: Baker without the bake.

This helmet feels like a hat on. The ear flaps keep my ears warm but come out easy for spring hiking days.

Yeah man, Prodigy's fit with almost any helmet, and the added insurance of a brim make sure you are golden in the fight against gaper gap.

Have a ProTec multi-impact and this guy. Was concerned, like Mitch G, about the no ratings. However, I did a bunch of research about the ratings - which are antiquated, and were developed in 1970's & 80's - and then I contacted Bern, and talked with them regarding the Hard Hat and the concept behind it. It is made from Brock foam - same stuff in NFL and NHL helmets and pads - and is designed to take multiple impacts and not split like a traditional helmet.
I ski primarily backcountry in CO and WA, race, and throw in a little park time for color, with 50+ days in the hard hat, and have confidently made the switch. I'll even be taking out the knit liner and using it for mtn biking this spring.
This is a very light-weight, sturdy, warm, well vented, and comfortable helmet.
The boys in Deluxebury, MA did an awesome job with this unit!

Nice helmet but not approved for full high impact

By:

Cool helmet. Looks great. Fits perfect with my Oakley A-frame goggles. But I'm gonna send it back for a different helmet that has full safety rating for high impact crashes - I'm more a tree powder rider than a park rat, so I want a helmet with more protection.

Watts Hard Hat is for lower multi impacts

By:
December 1, 2008

If you want a BERN helmet with approved safety rating for high impact crashes you can get the Brentwood (or G, Cougar, Berkeley, Nino or Nina).

But the Watts Hard Hat doesn't have that safety rating. It's intended for lower impact crashes and multiple impacts. Sweet helmet, but keep that in mind.
