Carbon Fiber Watts EPS Visor Helmet w/Knit Liner

The Bern Carbon Fiber Watts EPS Visor Helmet w/Knit Liner is a top-shelf, best-in-show snow helmet that just happens to be light enough to go unnoticeable. EPS hard foam meets the snow and ski protection standards, and with the removable knit liner this Bern helmet protects your dome in summer too (you know, for skating and biking). Carbon fiber construction knocks serious weight off this Bern helmet versus its traditional counterpart, and full-time vents maintain a cool head temp throughout the day.

  • EPS hard foam meets ASTM F 2040 and EN 1077B standard for snow and ski, and meets CPSC and EN 1078 standard for bike and skate

Bottom Line: Bern style with superlight carbon construction.

Stylish and light!

Nice and light, fits the shape of my head which is important. Good venting, nice that you can remove the ear warmer flaps easily, since these are pretty warm for those cold days, but not so important hiking with them. Removing them does make the fit loose. The carbon does scratch easy due to no clear coat on it (why i give it 4 stars). Goggle strap holder works well and can be replaced if broken. I used this on a chamonix trip and was great for falling debris (ice chunks) and hiking with it on. The little visor does come in handy for that (debris deflection). The kind of helmet that doesn't look dorky!

Is size true? Why is this helmet so much more expensive than other Bern helmets? Do you believe that this is best protection of any helmet?

Hey Larry,
Yes the sizing is true to the size chart on this one. Its much more expensive than the other helmets because it is made from Carbon Fiber. So it will be lighter than a traditional helmet made from a plastic polymer.

After trying all sort of helmets I am really liking the Carbon Bern. It is so light and fits me well. I like being able to change out the knit liner for the thiner smaller one when it gets warmer.

This helmet doesn't offer the lower position for the "twin clip" on the back. Otherwise it's cool.
