The Bern Baker is something of an icon in the ski and snowboard industry. it was one of the first helmets to use classic skateboard style, and has survived a laundry list of imitators. This is the one that Seth Wescott was wearing when he won not one, but two gold medals. As far as qualifications go, we'd say that's a pretty convincing one.

The Baker starts with Bern's Hard Hat ABS hard shell to make the Baker a true multi-impact helmet. Bern then adds a Brock foam liner, which allows the Baker to be up to 35% lower profile than standard ski helmets. You won't ever be mistaken for an old-timey deep sea diver in the Baker.

The Baker isn't just about style, though. All told, the Baker weighs just 17.9 ounces and fits like a glove, so you won't be thinking about your helmet while you shred. Except, of course, when an admiring rider tosses you a compliment. And, unlike other helmets, you can take the liner out when it warms up for spring-ski comfort.

  • Hard Hat construction
  • Brock Foam liner
  • Classic skate styling
  • Up to 35% thinner than traditional winter helmets
  • Up to 14% smaller front to back than traditional winter helmets

Here's what others have to say...

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I have had this type helmet for over five years and when I am in the market for another one I will be looking to find one similar. The inner liner comes in handy for the colder days out on the slope since I do not have very much insulation on the top of my head. For being a bald guy the helmet is very comfortable and does not rub on the places of my head that I typically experience. The durability of the helmet is very strong and has even bailed me out when I have misjudged a tree branch or two in the Colorado Rockies. The best thing is this helmet is solid and protects your head well.

I don't like helmets but I like this one

Who LIKES wearing helmets, let's be real? No one. But who likes life and normal brain function? Definitely me. So I force myself to wear a helmet even when I would really rather not because I know its smart. However, that being said, despite my traumatic history of looking like a total Jerry while wearing a helmet, passionate love for floppy beanies, and strong dislike for helmet hair...I actually like the way this helmet looks and fits. It is stylish (totally non-Jerry), fits nicely ( doesn't pinch, give you headaches, etc), and keeps you as warm as any hat (especially when paired with hood or gaiter). I now not only am NOT embarrassed to be seen in public wearing a helmet, but I feel sort of naked if I ever don't wear it skiing. I haven't yardsaled or smashed by skull, so I can't vouch for the level of safety it provides, but I can tell you it is comfortable, warm, and it sure makes my mom happy.

worth every penny

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Slim, stylish and comfortable. Everyone who has any sense wants something they can use to protect their dome, but who wants to look stupid while doing it. The hard hat solves this problem because as it says it is much smaller and "cooler" looking than other helmets. In cold weather it keeps your head incredibly cool and in 20+ degrees you stay relatively cool. I personally have used this helmet multiple times and would recommend it to anyone. Also two of my close ski buddies also use the hard hat and they have nothing, but the best to say! So what are u waiting ? Grab one!

Do you have the XXL version of the Bern...

Do you have the XXL version of the Bern Baker helmet?

Hey Sebastien,

We try to keep things as transparent as possible and unlike some retail stores we do not have a back room with hidden merchandise. If we have it then its available on the website. Unfortunately at this time we are sold out of all XXL sizes and it doesn't look like Bern is planning on sending us more within the near future.

Great product, great service

  • Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought this helmet as a gift for my dad. He's very pleased with its performance! Also, the first helmet I ordered got lost during shipping; Backcountry immediately sent out another. And when my dad realized he'd asked for the wrong size, he was able to do a quick, hassle-free exchange!

This helmet is so rad! I've had it for almost 4 years now. It is still in great condition! I've taken multiple slams and it does great. I keep the liner in at the beginning and end of the season so I can wear sunglasses, and take it out during the season so I can wear a terryclava and goggles. Variety! Also love the look and the smooth matte black finish. Great product.

slightly incorrect

The color names say black knit. This is not the same knit liner Bern has used in the past. It is a the liner pictured in the all yellow everything color.
