Recommend, but do some research

Overall, I am pleased with the product. However, I was a little disappointed about the "Pro-Shell" fabric supposedly being a 3-Layer gortex. The fabric feels more like the thinner Paclite Gor-tex. A typical 3-Layer gortex feels more like a rain poncho. Not sure if this was some sort of a British marketing stunt. The hood is the most amazing part of the jacket. The wire inside allows me to pull or shape to fit my needs.

incredibly lightweight, versatile hardshell

When I pulled this out of the box, I just couldnt believe how light this jacket was, so it obviously packs down really small too. It has the best head protection I've seen from a hardshell because the hood adjusts to a great fit with both your bare head or your helmet, and it zips up almost all the way up to my nose and protects my face really well. It's a bit difficult to zip it up all the way without wearing the hood but odds are that youll be wearing it when you need the hood on, so it may be more protection than you want but thats not exactly a bad problem. One reccomendation on sizing is that if you plan on wearing it over a lot of thick layers, then go a size up since it is an athletic fit. This shell with a downlight sweater is a great combo for down in the single digits, and is also light enough to wear in the summer rain. If it were a tad longer past my waist then i'd give it 5 stars, so everything else about it is perfect!
