For cold, wet belays, the Berghaus Men’s Incinerator Duvet Down Jacket’s layered combination of 700-fill goose down and PrimaLoft gives you maximum warmth while protecting you from moisture. The Pertex Endurance shell sheds snow and light rain, while the outer layer of synthetic PrimaLoft protects the down and insulates even when wet. An adjustable hood keeps out spindrift, while the jacket’s packable design stores easily in your climbing pack.

  • Backcountry.com is the exclusive US retailer for Berghaus products

Bottom Line: A fiery combination of down and synthetic.

bought this to replace my very disappointing Arcteryx Fission SV. About the only flaw I can find to the Berghaus Incinerator is the stylishly silly yet utterly impractical design of the hook/loop closures on the cuffs which 95% of the time fail to remain closed for longer than about 60 seconds. Other that that the jacket is just about perfect (slightly heavier-duty zippers would be a plus but they are certainly adequate as is - they just require a a bit more finesse and dexterity than it always possible depending on the outdoor conditions).

Can anyone tell me how the sizing of this specific jacket compares

Can anyone tell me how the sizing of this specific jacket compares to a TNF down jacket?

If a 'Large' Incinerator jacket is zipped-closed, laid flat on a table, with arms outstretched in cruciform position:

1) What is the distance from cuff to cuff?

2) What is the distance across the main body of the jacket?

Many thanks for any help with this, I realise this jacket is not that well-known.

Incinerator - Toasty

This is a very nice parka. It's nearly August so this review is written without the benefit of testing it in its winter/altitude element (so star rating is based only on initial impressions). In principle, it will fit a niche between my Patagonia DAS and Mountain Hardwear Absolute Zero (which rarely gets used in any conditions short of extreme). It's puffier (loftier) than the (Primaloft One) DAS due to the down, and about a half-pound heavier, but packs down to about the same size. In theory it should be quite a bit warmer.

It's not svelt, but not a Micjelin man puffy eiher. It fits true to size, with room to wear a baselayer, fleece and shell underneath. I caution that I tend to prefer cleaner, slimmer fit to a baggy fit. I'm 6", 41 " chest, 180lbs.

Materials and workmanship are great on first glance. The draft flap of the very soft Pertex liner behind the zipper can get caught in the zipper itself if you're not careful - some stiffer material here would have helped, but if you are careful or run your thumb or finger ahead of the zipper when you close it you can avoid this (this can be done with gloves on).

I'll report back once it gets real use.
