The hand settles naturally over the palm-swelled shape and its textured skin.

Great Knife

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Buy one....great EDC knife. Unfortunately, I left mine at the climbing gym and the person who found it decided, "hey, not my knife...guess I'll keep it".

Best knife I have

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The first thing I want to say is that the AXIS locking system is probably the smoothest system. Its unbelievable.

I don't need to speak about build quality and knife steel, because let's face it, it's a Benchmade. They make great knives, although they are expensive.

As for size: It does feel small in the hand, and it is a smaller knife, but the blade length is great for everyday tasks and the size of the knife makes it suitable for every day carry.

I really do recommend this knife, although I'd wait until it's on-sale. (It does happen!)

Great knife!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I received this knife as a gift and loved it so much that I bought one for my girlfriend almost 2 years later. I've taken the knife on several multi-day backpacking trips and it's my go-to blade. It's small enough to comfortably fit in your pocket, but the handle is still sufficient to get a solid grip on it quickly and easily.
Some other reviewers have mentioned difficulty with a one-handed open or close of this knife - I have had no such problem. Like any new toy, it takes a few times practicing to get it just right, but I can one-hand open or close this knife in my sleep without ever missing.
The colors are great too. Mine is the dark army green with the black blade and the one I bought for my girlfriend is turquoise-blue with the silver blade. Both have the combination blade, which I recommend. The pictures are true to the color.
Overall, this is a great, sturdy knife that looks sharp and stays sharp.

Griptilian and Mini Griptilian

Griptilian and Mini Griptilian

Here is the size difference between the two knives. I prefer the mini for everyday use.

Lock sticks, blade bouces

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I'm VERY picky when it comes to shopping for a knife. I ended up buying 8 different knives to test them all out and find out which one I want. The Griptilian and Griptilian Mini knives were in my top favorites for ease of use. They both were SUPER easy to open and close with a wrist flick, but I noticed that if you open them to hard the AXIS lock will stick and will make it hard to close. When you flick it closed the blade will bounce and most of the time won't close all the way after it bounces. That was the deal breaker for me on not choosing the Griptilian knife. I did like the Griptilian Mini slightly more than the Griptilian just because of the size of the knife for everyday use.

Pros:
- Well made.
- AXIS Lock is awesome.
- Fun and quick to open and close.
- Great size.
- Black clip.

Cons:
- AXIS lock sticks if you open blade to hard.
- Blade bounces and won't close all the way if you flick it closed to hard.
- Doesn't feel as quality/solid as the SOG Spec Elite 1 knife.
- Handle feels a little cheap and plasticy, not to much, but just a little...

I would recommend this knife to anyone who is looking for a non assisted opening knife who loves to and wants to easily and quickly open and close the knife one handed and with extremely minimal effort.

In the end I kept the SOG Spec Elite 1 knife since it had everything I liked about this knife but without the Cons.

If that's a question and not a statement, yes, all Benchmade products are made in the USA.

Everything you need in a knife.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The size, construction, and sturdiness of this knife combine to make one of the best all-purpose knives I've ever come in contact with. There are certainly better single-purpose knives out there, but for everyday carrying, camping, and general use, I don't think you can beat it.

Fantastic!

Super sharp, really easy to clean, love the thumb studs next to the handle. Very easy to open with one hand if necessary.

Outstanding

Razor sharp from the factory, just as can be expected from Benchmade. I have the olive drab with the black 154cm blade.

Benchmade Lifesharp will resharpen your knife (or replace it if its too far gone) for just $5 (shipping and handling) for life.

Axxis is bombproof, knife feels solid in my hands.

Perfect knife for everything

Ive had this knife for about 6 months now, and its still super sharp, and looks like new. It came sharper from the factory than any other knife ive ever had. This is my first benchmade, and i love it. I carry it for and EDC and in the back country. Its a great knife and i will be getting nothing but benchmade from now on. I would recommend this to anyone, who is in the market for a high end knife.

Every Man should have a pocket knife

I never knew how much I would use a pocket knife until I had one. Now, I question how I ever lived without one.

The knife is awesome. Great weight. Size and super sharp out of the box. Perfect EDC knife.

If you're thinking about getting this knife do not hesitate.

perfection

This is pretty much the best medium-sized knife you can get for everyday carry (without going into the three-figure price range). Flawless construction, perfect balance, easy open and close, not too big or too small. If you like quality craftsmanship, then you'll find the Mini Grip a true thing of beauty. The photos here on Backcountry don't really do it justice. It's a good-looking knife, and I'm not even into the whole tactical look.

The only thing I hate about this little guy is the pricetag. Nearly $100 for a knife is pretty steep. And it's definitely true that there are much cheaper alternatives out there that will do the job. They won't do it with the same effortless style, though. If you're looking for quality and can afford to drop a big chunk of change, check out the Mini Griptilian. As an added bonus, you'll know you're support manufacturing jobs here in the US.

great for EDC or backcountry use

Picked up one of these guys the other day. The size is perfect, much more thin then the full griptillian making easier to carry. The mini is also light making a good choice for hiking and other activities where you are carrying your gear. The blade is flat ground and of the highest quality. Benchmade provides lifetime sharpening, which does NOT extend to the serrations of the combo blade.

Good knife

Very durable, long lasting craftsmanship. It is heavy though. I would not choose it again for a mountaineering trip where every once counts.

Quality

You don't have to be a freak to appreciate a finely crafted knife, so go ahead and satisfy you knife fetish by buying this knife (you can never have to many). This knife is light but built very solidly. Opening and locking mechanisms are simple and excellent. This one is a perfect size for backpacking.

Finest Quality Knife Available

Everyone should own a Benchmade knife to experience one of the finest quality pieces of cutlery on the market. Quick & positive ambidextrous thumb stud opening. Spring operated Axis side lock keeps blade locked until released. The size & weight are great for backpacking. One of the lightest, full feature knives available due to the "state of the art" materials Benchmade uses. Great handle feel & extremely sharp. The serrated section cuts through rope & webbing with ease. If you're going outdoors, you need a good knife. Spend the extra $ and treat yourself to the Benchmade Griptilian. It's as good as it gets. Made in the USA!
