This is the protection you're looking for.

Show fellow trail riders where your true allegiances lie with Bell's limited edition Super 2R MIPS Star Wars helmet. With all of the functional, lightweight protection of Bell's award-winning Super 2R, the helmet will keep you safe as you wind through the woods, chasing rebellious friends across a forested, limestone moonscape. While the helmet will help protect you in the event of crashes and spills in our terrestrial playground, we're obligated to disclose that it may not fare as well against pit-bound tentacle monsters in the deserts of a galaxy far, far away.

Bell constructs the helmet using an In-Mold polycarbonate shell as an initial impact-absorbing layer, followed by its X-Static padding for added cushion and protection. MIPS, or Multi Directional Impact Protection System, refers to the Swedish technology added to the helmet in the form of a thin inner layer that rotates slightly upon impact to absorb the brain-damaging rotational energy created in certain crashes.

Bell's integrated camera mount allows you to film your adventures without the use of tape or zip ties, and in the event of a crash, it will break away from the helmet to reduce the risk of injury to body or device. The full face shield and visor offer significant coverage, but Bell keeps airflow moving with extensive venting throughout the Super 2R. You can achieve a customized fit using the TAG Fit System, which allows for vertical and lateral fit adjustments.

    All in one helmet

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Med

This helmet is by far the most versatile helmet on the market. The removable lower guard is a innovative idea because you don't need to buy a helmet for xc and another for downhill. As for fit Bell has you covered there too because it is safety tested from the side as wells as from the back and top. Fit and finish are class leading. Also fully adjustable.

    Super Helmet

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I had the regular Super 2 helmet before this one, and decided to upgrade to the MIPS and have the option for full face. Also doesn't hurt that I now get to wear Boba Fett's helmet. As a huge Star Wars fan i couldn't resist. The chin guard attachment actually worked much better than I thought. It is super easy to attach and feels very secure. I have yet to take a fall with it on, but at very least, having it does add a sense of security. If you like to ride and you like Star Wars, this helmet is an awesome, albeit odd combination.

    Looks great both ways!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Love this helmet. It's light weight and very comfortable. Its extremely easy to attach and remove the chin guard. I Keep the chin guard in my bag for those unexpected Downhill sections that come up when riding new trails. Its a great feeling to know you have it just in case but you don't need to ride with it at all times.

I have not taken any spills on the helmet yet but i am confident that it will do it's job when that day comes.

    Yup.

Started hitting a little more gnarly downhill courses and figured it best to get a full face in order to prevent myself from being rendered permanently ugly from a face-first fall.

Didn't realize that the inside of this helmet would fit like a traditional instead of how most full faces feel but I love the fact that it's incredibly light weight and insanely breathable.

I can definitely see how the other reviewer got cut from the forehead portion of the helmet as it comes to a pretty abrupt end with very little padding in that area. The only real downside to this helmet.

I have a decent sized noggin and it appears to run a tad small.

This is my Second Super 2 and I still love the helmet. The 2016 model has a little better fit and finish than the 2015. The TAG adjustable fit system works more smoothly on this model and the chin bar goes on and off a bit easier. The sizing remains on the smaller side. I fit a medium in this helmet with a 7 1/8 hat size. I am usually a small in just about every other helmet. The storm trooper graphic is a cool novelty (although it is not too convincing).

I am not sold on the MIPS system. In my opinion the technology lacks any statistically significant data and is more of a marketing gimmick than a safety feature. I believe a bike helmet rotates adequately in an impact without a slippery liner. Also, the MIPS liner catches my hair and makes me think a bee has gotten in my helmet.

ONTO the important stuff. It works! But it cut me. I took a tumble after launching off a ledge (without dropping my seat post). Funny that you have to actuate your dropper post to feel its benefits. Upon landing I was launched by my seat over the bars onto some hard slick rock. The chin bar ate part of the impact, and the front lip of the helmet (on the brow) took up the rest. The hard rubber around the brow of the helmet cut my forehead, but felt I was very well protected and did not even have a headache after the impact. The helmet was dented, but the foam was not cracked through, and the MIPS liner did not break away. Kudos to Bell for making a great product. My brain thanks you.
