Description

Put a lid on it.

Every bike helmet is required to pass a regiment of safety guidelines such as those by the CPSC, Consumer Products Safety Commission. Helmets keep getting lighter and lighter, and although it is remarkable, they still easily pass the industry standards. The Bell Gage is one such helmet which perfectly balances weight, fit, and ventilation.

Bell's Fusion In-Mold Microshell is the secret behind its three-way win. During the manufacturing process, the Microshell is bonded to an EPS foam liner which creates a strong matrix. Reinforcements are placed within the matrix which allows Bell to utilize large ventilation ports in the design of the Gage. The air ports are designed to move air through the helmet from the front to the back which keeps your head dry and cool. Secondly, the In-Mold construction means that there are solid anchoring points for the TAG fit system.

You want your helmet to fit level on your head. To that end, it should form fit around the occipital lobe at the back of your head. To ensure this, the TAG fit system allows for both height and width adjustments to get a personalized fit. For quick adjustment of straps, Cam-locks are included-they are even adjustable while riding.

Finishing off the Bell Gage is X-Static padding. Coupling quick-dry material and anti-microbial coating, the pads stay stink free, ride after ride.

The Bell Gage Helmet is available in the sizes Small, Medium, and Large and in the colors Black/red/white stripes, Matte BMC Limited Edition Team, Matte Black Swerve, Matte Black/orange/blue swerve, Matte Titanium Stripes, and White Stripes.

OK but runs big with minimal padding

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bell helmets are good looking but they run a bit on the large side and the lack of padding makes them feel even larger (not great for folks with short hair or baldies) I returned the large because it was humongous Medium is better but roomy. Straps are not the easiest to adjust but I think that is universal with all the manufacturers.

Bell makes good stuff

A good looking helmet. I ordered a medium. It still felt too big. I love the dial in the back. Had to return due to size but still bought a Bell.

Great helmet. Its super light, adjusts easily, and fits comfortably. Also, the chin strap is made from a soft material, which I've noticed is not the norm with helmets... my chin and neck thank you Bell!

Excellent helmet. Extremely light... VERY lightweight :) I got the discontinued color (Matte Black/Orange/Blue Swerve) at a closeout price, but even if I paid full price, I would still be very happy with the helmet. Bell quality all the way. Thanks Bell and Thanks Backcountry and CC.

Fantastic Helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Everything you want in you summer racing helmet is right here. Light, Venty, Comfortable, did I say light? The old standbye really applies here; "You barely know you are wearing it."

Amazingly light and comfortable!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The fit of this helmet is outstanding! I've tried on dozens of helmets and this one fits like a glove. It doesn't sit high or wide on my head and the venting keeps my head cool on a hard ride. It's like built in a/c. If you've owned a bell helmet in the past and liked the fit, you should love the Gage!

Isn't comfortable if...

You have a sleestack ridge on top of yer head. I have Dinosaur dna or something and I got a bit of a ridge running down the centerline of my calabasa. I put the helmet on and it kinda teetered on my ridge no matter what...it felt irksome, bothered me...I think the strap system is real lightweight as well, as in...for this kind of money, meaning full retail, a more robust, rapid to adjust, strap system would be nice... the "comfort," pads are real cheapo as well....

Gage helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

3rd Bell helmet I've had. 2 Volts and my first Gage. It's considerably lighter than the Volt, but just as comfortable. Has the same adjustability as the other Bell products, so I was familiar with fitting. The price was a big factor. Paid >$100 for my Bell Volt. So a lighter and BMC color scheme helmet for my new ride for $75 bucks; can't beat that.

Never thought I would LOVE a Helmet. . .

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased this helmet in a last ditch attempt to find a lid that I could truly enjoy. I was incredibly discouraged in my search and had ordered what seems like at least 10 helmets. Nothing fit correctly and I don't exactly have an odd shaped melon. Needless to say, I was a little perplexed. I had tried the Giro Savant ( too deep-cone head) Several Bell Array's ( extremely poor quality-all 4 were broken in the exact spot where the retaining clips had been forced into the foam) Giro Transfer( universal fit-generic fit/too large) and lastly the Uvex Race III ( beautiful helmet-great quality-Made in Germany/not an ounce of comfort. . . at all/ basically universal fit, which meant a huge shell for my smallish nogan. So, with all of that said, the Bell Gage fits like a glove and is incredibly light. Originally, I despised the recessed foam accents on the outside, towards the front of this helmet but they serve a very useful purpose(almost locking my shades into place when I put them on the helmet. The quality is top notch, with no nasty foam overlap on the shell, like cheaper helmets. It is very form fitting and is suitable for a more shallow/compact skull. I am ordering a couple at this price just in case they become unavailable. The Bell Gage fits like your favorite baseball hat and might as well be weightless. You will love it!

Bell Gage Helmet

The Bell Gage Helmet is very light, to the point that I don't fell it when I'm wearing it. It's also easy to adjust. I tried several other helmets and would end up with a slight headache after an hour ride, not with this one. It fits perfectly, it's very light, and most of all it's on sale.

Awesome helmet design
Awesome design

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I was anxious when I ordered the Gage, because I had not tried one on, and it was more expensive than I planned to spend.
It fits great, and it's light as a feather.
The best part is, that it looks bad ass!

Super light

I was afraid it was going to fit, but it fit perfectly, the rear strap helps keep the helmet on snug. It is very light and feels great on the head.

Sweet

After trying LG's best and Lazer's best, I have finally found a helmet that fits my head --nice and snug, Thanks BELL. As always the customer service here is top notch!

Near Perfect

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

While I haven't tried every helmet, I can't imagine a better looking and fitting one than this one. Matches the team BMC colors, very comfortable in 90+F weather, and no issues with comfort on all day rides. The only minor issue is that I do notice the front pad along the forehead does get pretty wet with sweat, seems to collect a bit more than other helmets. With that sais, highly recommended and looks great w/ BMC.
