With skin tracks already set from the previous day’s duel peak Begbie Tilley climb; I decided to challenge myself to climb/ski Mt. Begbie as fast as I could.

Loading my pack up with minimal weight and gear, I slapped on my ski crampons and began to run up the hill through the lower woods.

Once the snow softened enough, I ditched the crampons and continued to skin up the track. I was really able to pick up some speed from the pre-made tracks and arrived to the boot pack in record time.

A quick hike up the chimney that pokes out onto the summit ridge and in 2.5 hours I had hit the peak.

Another quick equipment change, and I was ripping down through the creamy north east face and then back to the truck in less than 3 hours. I beat my personal record for Mt. Begbie that day with climbing 7100 ft. and Show more...
