Description

There’s nothing better than twins.

Tie in for your next ice route with the Beal Ice Twin 7.7mm Rope. Thanks to its Golden Dry treatment, which gives the rope a coating on both the core and sheath, you won’t have to worry about your cords absorbing water, freezing, or wearing out prematurely. The twin system lowers impact force on marginal protection, and reinforces the system in the event a rope gets cut, making it ideal for sketchy winter climbs and sharp rock routes.
  • This rope is sold individually and should always be used with another of its kind

Could you use two of these as half ropes as well?

Responded on

Hey Andrew,

This rope is not certified as a half rope and should not be used as such.

Responded on

Some of Beal's ropes have multiple uses and are certified as Single, Half, and Twin. This one is only a twin rope and should not be used as a half. Check out this article http://www.rockandice.com/lates-news/difference-between-double-and-twin-ropes. The Gully is rated for both a Twin and a Half http://www.beal-planet.com/2014/anglais/cordes-gully.html

Are all colors/lengths dry treated? In the 'Select Options' field some are called out with GD in the name while others a not.

Responded on

As far as I can tell from Beal's website, it only comes with the coating. So the ones that don't say it should still have the coating.

Hey Dan,

I ran out and checked the two variants that do not have the GD in their title and they also had the Golden Dry hangtag like the Green and Violet variants.

Light ropes, decent price

I like twin ropes for mountaineering because for only a little more weight than a single, you've got two ropes for the rappel. 50 meters is usually plenty for mountain routes, and lighter. 50m ropes can be hard to find these days.

I ordered two of these twin ropes. They were supposed to have a center mark, they do not. Also, I was charged shipping, even though orders over $50 are supposed not to be charged.

You probably need to call the customer service line, they're very helpful with things like this. 800-409-4502.
p.s. I don't see anywhere in the description that it says this rope has a center mark. Some manufacturers have stopped putting them on so that they don't cause trouble when a rope gets trimmed on one end.

When you place an order it does not usually default to the free shipping, you have to select it as an option. I also do not see anything in the specs about a center line.

As Ryan posted, contact customer service and they will help you.
