Gear Review

suitable for class III+

I used the AF as a rental equipment before, and recently bought one for my wife who stopped hardboating because of a knee problem.

overall, the boat is very solid and maneuverable. The straps are greaet for keeping you angle on ferries and peelouts, lifting/dropping edges diring eddy turns and hole punching/surfing. It's really as close to a whitewater hardoat as you can get. For a "regular" paddler with no extraodinary skills, this boat is ok on cl iii+ to iv-.

I tried to roll it up, but no success. I guess the straps are insufficient for the eskimo roll and the boat is wide, too, as any IK.

AF is an older model, but still arguably the best IK on the market.

the regular force is pretty easy to roll but with 32" wide,
you're better get your head out at the really end of the
move (deflate the back bag to ease the roll).
And, you always have the option to climb back
in if you capsize.
AIRE should have build the new force keeping the
same width and tube diameter as the original
while only adding more rocker at both ends.
the new force is heavy and now too similar to all
other iks.
