still in the running for the starting job as my #1 hiking hat
Bought one of these a few weeks ago in the Retro Khaki. It's a nice sun hat and works well for hiking. I would prefer that the underside of the brim be dark to reduce glare, and while the 2.5" brim width provides good visibility, I have grown accustomed to the addtional coverage provided by the 3.5" (4" in the back) coverage of my Mountain Hardwear sun hat, and now I find that I like the extra coverage better. Patagonia does make a hat with that wide a brim, the Sun Booney (which also has a black underside to the brim), but that hat is not size-adjustable. This is a good hat, and is still in the running for the starting job as my #1 hiking hat, but I think I'm going to roll with the Mountain Hardwear hat when I go out to hike this morning.
