they don't collapse very far and can be kind of a pain to adjust (plus they don't stay all the way collapsed, they slide around a few inches), but for how cheap they are I shouldn't be surprised. Wish they weren't listed as splitboarding poles, they're just too long to want to deal with if you have to put them away when you ride down. Probably fine for snowshoeing, but for backcountry snowboarding I'd say spend the extra money for something that gets significantly smaller
