great lightweight option

I tried on a lot of lightweight packs in an effort to get my total pack weight below 20 pounds with food and water. This was the winner -- it has a good suspension system, the only really usable load lifters of any ultralight pack I tried, and the large is almost 4000 cubic inches for only 3.5 pounds. It can easily handle loads up to about 35 pounds; beyond that and the hipbelt starts to twist. It has a large lid pocket and a good shovel pocket, and compresses well. You can't compare this to the sub-2 pound frameless rucks -- the Osprey is far more comfortable on my back, without a huge weight penalty.
