XS too large for 00 petites

  • Gender: Female

I really wanted to love this jacket, I've watched the Arc'teryx videos and it seemed like the ideal wet weather midlayer (when down is not ideal). Note however that this jacket is nowhere near as warm as down. Alas, the 2012 XS size is too large for me . I am 5ft1, approx 97lb. If you watch the Arc'teryx videos you'll see that it is meant to be a fitted jacket - on me it fits like an outer layer. The stretchy side panels just hang there. There are air pockets along the torso and air gets in from the hip seam since there is no way to cinch the non-hoodie version. Also the sleeve cuffs are not as tight as on the 2011 version - so they are too long and loose on me. For the sake of comparison I'll point out that the size M, Patagonia girls down sweater fits me perfectly, but I was looking for a synthetic alternative. I so wish Arc'teryx would make an XXS size or petite sizes. If you get outdoors in California, you'll see there is no shortage of petite. outdoorswomen here.
PS: I have to thank Arc'teryx for giving orange and orangey red back to the girls! I am so fed up of purple, pink and turquoise blue. Outdoor companies please note that there are plenty of women with yellow toned skin out there and we'd like some yellow toned shades in outdoor gear.

I am 5ft. tall & weigh 92 lbs. I am looking for a very light weight, very packable jacket for traveling - attractive, fashionable, all-pupose (not for sports), water resistant. I found the nano puff - a little large, but apparently not well made. Any suggestions?

Gloria - alas, no great alternatives -- try the Patagonia girls down sweater size M - that fits me really well . I stuff it into a small stuff sack and that works really well. The women's sizes including for the nano-puff are too large;
