Salomon decided to bring their Pilot system to those that seek automatic bindings. Though they seem to do the job (in that they attach you to the ski) they tend to freeze up often. They are also just hard on the hands if you have bad aim and can't push the button with the end of your pole. I much, much prefer the manual version even at the extra cost.
