Transceiver was a lemon

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I returned this package immediately after transceiver failed during Day 3 AIARE Level I course companion rescue simulation. As I began the rescue, my initial signal search indicated a target burial in which I was able to pinpoint within 1m grid. As my partner began probing, my transceiver, spiked and went dead. It was at that point, our instructor/guide approached and told us that he had not buried a beacon in the location in which we were probing. Not cool and not something you want to hear when you are trying to save lives. I will not buy another, may invest in bigger brother Baryvox pulse as is has received some solid subjective reviews.

Shovel is a work horse and on the big side; some challenges with getting it out of front pocket of Dakine HeliPro DLX 20L. Handle and length are a plus for someone my size at 6'2" I plan to invest in another once I receive my refund.

Probe works well, my only concern is that is requires screwing washer down to ensure a secure lock which means a couple extra wasted moments when trying to perform an efficient rescue. Will not repurchase probe.
