I stupidly bought this jacket in September but, since it's been pretty warm here in Massachusetts, wore it for the first time this morning. It is 35 degrees outdoors, which is hardly Arctic, and I even wore it with a sweatshirt underneath. I was cold during my entire walk with the dog, and the whole reason I spent $250 on a jacket was because I thought it was 800-fill and would be warmer than my 600-fill LL Bean jacket that cost me $99. Well, obviously I wasted my money and I'm really upset because now I've worn it and it's over a month since I bought the damned thing. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. It is not even remotely a warm jacket; I wondered why it seemed so thin, and now I know - there's not really enough down in it.

Sorry to hear you're not happy with the jacket. No worries though, either Patagonia or Backcountry.com will give you a refund or replace the jacket with a different piece. Just contact customer service from either company.

I really need to know if this jacket is warm or not!!?? Seems to be mixed reviews. I live in the mountains in Colorado and want something WARM!!
I'm thinking of ordering it but don't want to spend that much $$ if it's not WARM. Thank you!!

That's crazy! Not sure what the issue is on that, but I can very much attest to the warmth of this jacket. I've had great luck with the insulation (so light and warm-my first down coat) in this Patagonia coat. Winnipeg gets down to -30s and -40C and I still find this beast sufficient when properly layered. Quite warm and wind-poof.

800 fill doesn't necessarily mean its warmer. 800 fills means its lighter compared to 600 fill, but the same warmth.
