This sling is great if you are going to do a series of rappels. The middle loop is designed for your belay/ rappel device to be extended for rappels - it then allows you to back up your rap with a prusik or other safety knot that can in turn be clipped directly to the belay loop on your harness. I love it for long multi-pitch routes with equally long rappel routes - like the many multi-pitch sport routes in Europe. For shorter climbs and climbs that don't require rappels I usually leave it at home.
